Carry On My Wayward Son: Prayer of the Damned
I prayed the Lord my soul to keep when I reach that final sleep.
I walked through His valley once with His shadow at my side.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep every night now as I lay down to weep.
I walk through His valley now with the shadow of Death at my side. The Lord's glory doesn't shine here anymore.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep every night as I search for peace.
I travel through stares and glares and contempt with a fallen angel at my side. The Lord doesn't care for either of us anymore.
I pray the Lord to weep each night as I send souls for him to keep.
I fight through the war with my own orders. The Lord can have the fallen soldiers and their faith as I stay standing.
I pray the Lord to break apart- as everyone and everything does so should he.
I walk through the valley in the wake of a demon's wrath, too late to stop anything, but trying still. The Lord can stay gone.
I pray the Lord to leave my soul alone. I'm already broken and tired to the bone.
I walk through the world's fire with fleeting shadows at my side, and its better this way.
Amen
