I come to see her daddy,
For a sit down man to man,
It wasn't any secret,
I'd be asking for her hand,
Ryoma nervously sat in the living room, where Sakuno's mom led him to wait. Ryoma's golden eyes glanced around the room picture after picture caught his eye.
I guess that's why he left me waiting,
In the living room by myself,
With at least a dozen pictures of her,
Sitting on a shelf,
Ryoma smiled at each picture as his eyes scanned them. Sakuno loved to play dress up like many little girls do. One in particular caught his attention. The small picture of Sakuno dress as an American princess, Cinderella; the white gown was beautiful on her and her eyes sparkled with joy.
Playing Cinderella,
She was riding her first bike,
Bouncing on the bed,
And looking for a pillow fight,
Running through the sprinkler,
With a popsicle grin,
Looking up at him,
In her eyes I'm Prince charming,
But to him I'm just some fella,
Riding in and stealing Cinderella.
Ryoma leaned forward in his seat to look at the newer picture placed on the table in the middle of the room. He squinted to see past the glare of the sunlight flowing in through the open window.
"She's amazing, isn't she?"
I leaned in towards those pictures,
To get a better look at one,
When I heard a voice behind me say,
"Now ain't she something son?"
"Yes she's grown up quite a woman," Ryoma answered the older male.
The other male gave Ryoma this look as if he had two heads or something.
I said "yes she's quite a woman,"
And he just stared at me,
Then I realized that in his eyes,
She would always be
Ryoma looked at Sakuno's father and back at the picture of Sakuno dress up all over the walls. he relized then why Sakuno's father gave such a look to him.
Playing Cinderella,
Riding her first bike,
Bouncing on the bed,
And looking for a pillow fight,
Running through the sprinkler,
With a big popsicle grin,
Dancing with her dad,
Looking up at him,
In her eyes I'm prince charming,
But to him I'm just some fella,
Riding in and stealing Cinderella.
"Sir, I'm here to ask for the permission to merry your daughter," Ryoma stated politely.
"Sakuno has told me a lot about you and I feel that you would be a perfect husband for her," Sakuno's father stated.
Oh he slapped me on the shoulder,
Then he called her in the room,
When she through her arms around him,
That's when I could see it too,
She was playing Cinderella,
Riding her first bike,
Bouncing on the bed,
And looking for a pillow fight,
Running through the sprinkler,
With a big popsicle grin,
Dancing with her dad,
Looking up at him
He called Sakuno into the room with a smile. Sakuno quickly appeared in the doorway.
"Ryoma, what are you doing here?" she questioned a small blush crossing her cheeks.
"Ryoma, why don't you tell her the big news," Sakuno's father asked.
Ryoma smiled at Sakuno before he grabbed her hand. He leaned down on one knee before pulling out a ring from his pocket.
"Sakuno, I love you and I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Will you do me the honor and become my wife?" Ryoma asked.
Sakuno looked at her father with a hopeful glint in her eye. He closed his eyes and nodded once at her. Sakuno's smile only grew before she practically tackled Ryoma with joy.
"Yes! Yes, I love you too, Ryoma," she whispered into his ear.
Ryoma smiled one of the biggest in his life.
If he gives me a hard time,
I can't blame the fella,
I'm the one who's stealing Cinderella.
