I Believe

Alot of people can't understand why a person believes in God, so this poem is dedicated to those people. Even though no words could exactly describe belief only the truth of the heart.

I Believe

I believe there is a God because of the air that fills my lungs with each breath I take,

I believe there is a God because of the magnificent mountains, valleys, and lakes.

I believe because of the sun that shines ever so bright,

I believe because of the way my spirit takes flight.

I know there is a God watching over me when I go to sleep and when I wake,

I know there is a God watching over me because I feel His presence in my heart so great.

I know because of the way I yearn for His love and comfort all day and night,

I know because of the way He teaches me the truth of wrong from right.

I understand there is a God because of what I read in His word,

I understand there is a God because all His servants call Him the Merciful Lord.

I understand because my heart tells me the truth of what I know,

I understand because He forgives, He forgets, and He washes me as white as snow.

I can see that there is a God because of the beauty that surrounds my soul,

I can see that there is a God because He is the light in a world as black as cole.

I can see because He opened my eyes when I was once blind,

I can see because He helps me to look ahead when I fall behind.

You now see why I understand the reason as to why I know that I believe there is a God.

There is a song that says:

"I know there is air because I'm breathing, I know there is light because I'm seeing, I know there is truth because I believe it to be true, and I know that you're out there because I long for You."
