Why aren't they here? Why aren't they here? Thick brows knit together, forming a worried scowl onto your grey face. Sharp teeth nibbled on chapped lips, and your rust colored eyes darted to the boy beside you. Though his expression was in its usual calm state, you could feel the worry coming off of Dave in waves. Your eyes searched the sky for any sign, any giving point to show that they were near. But you couldn't see anything but the dark void of space, and the orb you were about to impact into. The impending doom and realization of your death nearly made you faint.
You felt Dave's strong hand grasp your own, and looking down at you he gave you his cocky smirk. "Calm down, Karkles. They'll be here." You forced a smile to your worried, split lips. The slight crack in his voice told you that he didn't believe it. They weren't here, and they weren't coming. What happened to them? Where's John, Jade, the others? His friends can't be hurt, but what if they were? Karkat has lost so many people already.
"Where are they?" your normally raspy voice was shaking more than usual, and you could feel tears pricking at your eyes. You glanced back to Dave, and nearly jumped when you saw him taking off his shades. "W-what are you doing?" He walked to stand in front of you, blocking your view of the quickly approaching planet.
"Karkat," Your eyes met his crimson gaze. Finding yourself calm beneath him, you admire his white lashes, the flecks of gold freckles that line his nose and cheeks, the halo of white hair, resting on his brow. "Just keep your eyes on me, Karkat." You could feel yourself shaking as he placed his hands onto your arms. He licked his lips, an action that didn't escape you, and leaned closer to your heated face.
Your mouth parted in a sigh as his soft pink, human lips touched your own. Pulling your small frame into his strong arms and against his hard chest, his tongue slipped sweetly into your mouth. You could taste a mixture of his mouth and your tears, and you melted into his affections. You started sobbing into his kiss, and Dave started to cry as well. You grasped onto him as if he could save you all, but you both knew it was too late.
The heat was becoming unbearable, and the noise was hurting your ears. Then...
Nothing.
