Disclaimer: Let it be known that, no matter what happens, I will undoubtedly never own V for Vendetta or any characters from it. I weep.
A/N: Hey everyone. This is my first VFV fic but I am sure others will come along soon enough. This came to me rather randomly in Math class and I thought I'd post it. I'm not quite sure whether I am going to make this one-shot into a series of drabbles surrounding the ever present V/Evey relationship. It is most probable that I will. So, if you like what you read, please feel free to leave a note on your way out.
Rain
It pours that night, water drizzling like ambrosia from the heavens. God is in the rain, or so she has heard. He is there too, in the rain, cleansing the earth of its filth.
She knows He is there, healing everyone. But tonight she decides to be selfish. Tonight the rain is hers and hers alone. She smiles up at the sky, grey and black, dreary to all but her.
It reminds her of him, those grey and black clouds. But then, that is to be expected. Everything makes up a piece of the puzzle that is Him. He is there; in the shadows, in her dreams, in her heart. His voice echoes on television and in books and songs. He speaks in sighs and whispers of longing that escape from her lips in the night.
He is there.
But mostly, He is in the rain.
The new world is being born around her, born of an idea. Aided by herself and the cleansing rain. She hopes it will rain tomorrow. She loves the rain.
Because, in the rain, the tears that stain her eyes are invisible. In the rain she can feel his touch, gently caressing her, body and spirit. In the rain she finds courage to keep living, to see the next rain fall.
It rains all through the night and into the next day.
