Seth Cowen took a deep, shaky breath and looked out and the seemingly never- ending blanket of blue water surrounding him. How he had ever managed to think that he could get to Tahiti from Newport alone in one sailboat was a mystery to him at this moment. Now that the sun was only a sliver of gold against the horizon, he had come to the realization of how idiotic he had acted. Seth turned the rudder; steering summer breeze toward what he hoped was Laguna Beach near the Newport coast. He knew he couldn't have managed to get that far, considering how slow and weak his boat was but fear still crept over him as he approached the shore.

Stars now illuminated the night atmosphere above him, staining the black sky like Christmas lights during Christmukkah. Seth thought back briefly to that day, how he invited both Anna and Summer to the party that night, and as this thought reoccurred in his mind he felt a wave of guilt wash over him.

He glanced ahead of him through the darkness, and noticed a spinning light towards the distance. It was the lighthouse, the one where Ryan had revealed to himself, Marissa and Summer that he was leaving to have the baby with Theresa. He was home. He coaxed the sailboat forward, determined to make it back as soon as he could to be with his family and friends.

Light rain began to fall, however it didn't worry him because he was so close. About a mile he thought, he would be home within the hour. Forward, towards the safety of his room where he could be confined between four solid walls. The light rain seemed to get heavier, and soon it was pouring so heavily it seemed like he was sailing through sheets of water instead of gliding through light droplets.

A pang of worry hit him lightly, he could barely make out the beams of illumination from the lighthouse but he pressed on, squinting in the darkness. Suddenly, a wave washed over the deck of his boat forcing him against the sail. He had hit his head against the metal pole and he rubbed it hastily after swearing. Thunder crashed, as the boat swayed dangerously between crests of water. Seth lowered the sail, in an attempt to prevent the now violent winds from knocking his boat over. How would Summer breeze ever outstand the ocean storm? He looked behind him, just in time to watch a ten-footer completely wipe out his sailboat, and everything went black.
