A little squirrel opened her eyes. She looked around for her mom and gave a little squeak. She looked harder. Finding no one, she yelled for her mother.

"Mommy!" Nuts yelled. She didn't get an answer. She knew that she was going to be alone then, for she saw a letter to her on the ground. It read:

Dear Baby,

I have named you Nuts.

You shall be all alone when you find this letter.

I have left this cruel world.

I hope you survive. You are a strong baby…

I know you WILL survive

Love,

Mommy

Nuts' eyes started to water. She cried loud and then louder. She cried so loudly, that the birds flew away. Finally, she stopped. No need to cry, she thought crying won't get me anywhere… She got up. Only one way to survive… I have to make shelter… and so she did. She found a little hole she could fit in, and made sure no one was living in it. She made and put up a sign to make sure no one would go in. Though quite sloppy, it read:

Nuts House

As you can tell, Nuts didn't know how to use apostrophes yet. She thought a little more. Hmmm. What am I going to eat? She thought about that a little. She went back to her old home. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes. One rolled down her cheek as she ran to where she found the letter. She found lots of useful things, like a toothbrush, a cup, a little hand towel, a backpack, a cellular phone, a pikachu pokedoll, and some bags of nuts. She put everything in the backpack, and headed to her new home.

The next morning, Nuts set off. She didn't know where, but she did. She was in such a hurry, that she forgot why she was actually running! Slow down, she thought to herself you're not in a hurry to die are you? From then on, she walked slowly with her head down. There was a brown flash in the corner of her eye. She looked up. It was a fox, very pretty, and, as nuts could tell, sly. The fox walked over to the little squirrel. Nuts could also see she was graceful.

"Are you lost?" the fox's voice was soft and full of concern. The fox went over to the berry bush and bit some out. She took them over to Nuts.

Nuts started to cry. The fox looked confused and asked what was wrong. Nuts couldn't stop crying, but tried. When she finally stopped crying, even though still sniffling, the fox asked again.

"What's wrong? Are you lost?" the fox, getting no answer, picked Nuts up on her back and took her to her house. The sign on the house said:

§ly's House

"S-sly-y?" Nuts asked still sniffling. She stopped for a moment as she felt her backpack being taken off. She felt safe and warm in Sly's den. She looked around the beautiful den.

"That's my name. Where is your mother? Sly asked. She took the letter that Nuts was holding, and read it.

"Oh." was all Sly could say. Sly thought for a moment, and then let out a sly "Hmmm." Then she said, "I have an idea!" She put her arm around Nuts.

"From now on, Nuts, I'll be you mom." Sly said with a big smile on her face. Nuts hugged her new mom. She loved her already.
