Dear Luna,
I still miss you and am eager for you to return home. I am, however, hopeful that your story is going well and that you are enjoying yourself.
I checked in on your father yesterday. I helped him with the Driggibles and made him some tea. We had a lovely chat. He seems to be in good spirits and sends along his love.
He also gave me an orange, which took me by surprise. I brought it to work with my lunch and split it with Blaise and Hermione (they took quarters, and I took a half). It was delicious, and it brightened the day somehow, that orange. We were all getting along splendidly. It was a good morning. I couldn't decide why. Was it the orange?
That's been happening a lot lately: good mornings with no cause. Walking in the park, taking a nap in the sun: completely ordinary things that I didn't take to a deeper, darker level.
This is my realization: peace and contentment. And I think you are the cause. Since I met you...you've helped me forget the hatred and the shame I carry from the war. Ordinary, domestic things are just that - and they are beautiful.
So I wrote this short note to say: I love you. I'm glad to be alive. Thank you for that.
All my love,
Draco Malfoy
