It was four weeks before Christmas & Alex's vacation. Alex & Melman was just coming out an exam. room examining a patient there was nothing wrong. A thy were walking down the hallway, Alex started to talk. Oh man. there was nothing wrong with the patient. Countless tests, procedures. Melman looked at the charts. She suffered from Munchausen Syndrome with means she want attention for nothing. Put Melman look at her chart. It said she had unnecessary looked at Alex I know I saw a lot of scaring. She's ben cut open dozen of times. Alex talk softly. She must ben watching to many medical drama shows. Melman turned to Alex. It probably runs in the family. So are you all set for your vacation? Melman asks. Oh yes I am. They were walking into the staff break room. Alex was pouring coffee. Were going to my wife's parents for Christmas. Alex's cell phone rang. it was Gia. Honey what's up. Gia started to speak. I measure the kids hight on the growth wall & Simba is a 1 inch shorter. There was a pause. Well Melman is with me. Do you want to talk to him? Alex had Melman his cell phone. Gia? What the matter?... That's not possible...Okay I be right over after my shift. Melman hand to Alex. They both went back to work for a couple of hours. It was 5:00pm and their shift was over. During the night, Simba was shrinking more. The next morning, Alex came into his room & measured him against the wall. This time he was 3 inches down & got on the phone with Melman & told him to bring him in for some tests. Melman did an MRI on him & a bone scan. Alex went into his office. Melman was examining his x-rays in his office. Alex went up to Melman. What do you find? Asks Alex? His skeleton shrink down. What was he doing last night after I left? Alex explained. Well Gia made peanut butter cookies & Simba inject himself with his Allergy Med. so Alex stop talking & paused. You don't suppose it was his Meds. All the sudden they herd. "CODE BLUE". They ran out & into the emergency room. Simba stopped breathing. Melman had to intubate & start to bag to get him to breath. Melman looked at the monitor. We have a heartbeat. They took him to I.C.U & put him on life support. His vital were being monitored, A catheter was left in his bladder. Alex was sitting by his bedside crying. Melman came into his room looking at his chart inject growth hormone thru his IV line. He came up to Alex tapped on his shoulder. Alex I need to talk to you. They left the room went up to the nurses station. Melman started to speak. I think I know what might happen. The allergy med he was injecting in himself he has had expired. I looked at the date on the bottle, & red the label & it said, if the Meds. expired & given to patient experience unusual growth & is life threatening. If we didn't caught it in time, Simba would ben dead. Alex cried harder. Melman put his hoof around him to cheer him up. Shhh..Shhh..Shhh..Shhh.. It's going to be Okay.
A couple days later Simba was much better & Melman moved him to the cub ward. He was eating until Alex came in. Dad! Alex looked at Alex. Son. You grew taller again. How are you feeling? Much better. Melman discharge him the next day & give him some new Allergy meds. But it was pills instead injections. It was one more week before Christmas & the whole family went to Gia's parent's The End.
