Deal
Sakura is so absorbed with the scroll she's reading that she doesn't register Kakashi's presence until he's slipping into the chair beside her. He arranges several stacks of books around him before laying his head on the table, face turned towards her.
"Hiding, are we?"
"What makes you think that?"
"Could be the book fort you've built."
"Maybe I just like forts."
"Or it could just be that the mandatory annual physicals are this week."
His grunt is answer enough. "I don't need someone poking at me to know I'm in perfect health."
"It's not just those kinds of tests, you know." Sakura unrolls the scroll further until it begins to pool in her lap. "They check your mental health as well."
"I'm good on that front. That's what the pills are for."
She narrows her eyes at him. "You've got an answer for everything, don't you?"
"I try."
"And here I was going to volunteer to do your physical—at your place too." His silence has her smiling down at the text before her. "But I guess you don't need me since you'd rather be jobless than let me see that third nipple of yours."
"It's called a beauty mark."
"Sure it is."
Kakashi is quiet long enough for Sakura to get lost in her reading again. When he finally speaks, she knows that she has won. Sort of.
"Fine. But you have to wear your medic uniform." As an afterthought, Kakashi points at his head. "With the hat."
She doesn't know why she blushes at this, but it's enough to make her break eye contact with her sensei.
"Deal."
Sakura clears her throat then and makes a show of returning to her scroll, but the brief press of his leg against hers under the table keeps her distracted long after Kakashi has left.
Notes:
So, awareness. Yeah. Did you get it?
