It was obvious from the start that they liked each other.

Well, it was for me, because Johnny is my brother, and Carmen's one of my best friends. It's easy to tell.

At first, it was something that both of them tried to hide, by being really mean to each other and barely talking. But after a while, they decided to be friends. Sometimes Carmen was still mean. Sometimes Johnny was too. They still are sometimes, but everyone knows that they don't mean it.

The first time I noticed was when Lily left. When we'd all gotten our stuff back, Johnny was the first one to realize why Carmen was so upset. I caught on quickly, but he was still the first one. That obviously meant he knew her better than anybody else did.

Also, I caught them together in the garden once, after he shouted at Tracy when I climbed that tree. I hid so I could listen to them. They were on the swing together as they were talking.

"I didn't mean to shout like that." Johnny said quietly.

"I know. You were just angry about what happened." Carmen said, and she took his hand, holding it in hers. To my surprise, he gave her hand a squeeze and didn't struggle at all.

"What should I do, Carmen?" Johnny whispered.

"Well…whatever you think is right. Maybe you should talk to Tracy if she comes in tomorrow…and make sure the others won't tell about the tree." She replied.

"I'll do everyone's jobs, including yours." Johnny said.

"You don't have to do that for me. I wouldn't tell." Carmen said.

"Not for that reason. I'll do yours, because you're a great friend. Thanks, Carmen." He said, and he actually kissed her cheek, before getting up and walking away.

I was stunned, but I sneaked back up to the house, leaving Carmen to think.

There were times after that as well, although some of them I was informed of by Liam. He'd noticed, too.

Like the time where Lily fell off the roof, Carmen got into a state and when she was sitting alone, Johnny went and sat next to her, putting an arm around her. She surprised us all by resting her head on his shoulder.

"She'll be fine." I said.

Also, when I went to live with the Watsons, Liam said he overheard Johnny and Carmen talking.

"Are you okay?" she had asked.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Johnny said.

"I know you, Johnny. You're upset, aren't you?"

"Yeah, I am, but…this is what's best." He said.

"You know that's not true." She whispered. Liam had walked into the room and found them hugging, so he backed out quickly.

There's been so many more moments since then. And yesterday…when I went a little crazy about Mo…all day, I noticed that they were whispering, sitting and standing close together, and I caught them on the sofa afterwards, Carmen's head in Johnny's lap, just chatting.

So when I walked downstairs earlier, I got Carmen into a corner and told her everything I knew.

She went bright red within the first few seconds and her blush only faded when I stopped talking.

"Of course I like him." She said eventually.

"And of course I like her." Johnny said from behind us.

A smile appeared on Carmen's face and he approached her. I went off so I could let them have time alone, but not before I saw them kiss.

I know that they'll look out for each other. They were meant to be, after all.
