Mandark knew tthe rules- He had to use the bathroom for the sex recorded on his birth certificate. He didn't exactly have one, but he knew what the law meant. Still, he didn't expect what he saw in the girl's bathroom.
Susan Mandark Astronomanov was never one to break school rules. No matter how much he hated them, he had to follow all of them. And that included the rule that he had to use the girl's restroom.
He'd never been to public school before (or school at all, in fact) and never before had to deal with using the bathroom according to his physical sex. But now he did. Sighing, he stepped into the girl's bathroom. There was no one in there.
Strange, he thought to himself, I swore I saw a group of girls enter just a moment ago.
Mulling over in his head what could have happened to them, Mandark slowly walked to the end of the bathroom, to the last stall. Before he had entered the bathroom, he had made himself look as girly as possible, to try and not get in trouble with his female peers- removing his tie in place for a necklace, messing up his hair for a tomboyish but still female hair style, even applying lipstick. He was grateful that he didn't need to do those things after all. Once he reached the last stall, his eyes opened in amazement.
Inside was not a toilet, but a whole other world. It was filled with flowers and trees. Cute animals roamed the fields, which were dotted with trees. Rows of candy canes sprouted from the ground, and girls ran all over, playing with dolls and having a great time.
The place absolutely sickened Mandark.
Still, he had a strong urge to study this place. How did it fit in the bathroom? Did the teachers know about this? Was their another place similar but more male-like in the boy's bathroom?
Mandark knew the answers to none of these questions.
"Hi!" A little girl spoke and Mandark looked down at her. It was Dexter's younger sister from earlier. What was her name- Bella!
"Um, hello," Mandark answered, deeply hoping she didn't recognize him. He dropped the nasily voice he usually used, using his natural voice, which sounded surprisingly feminine.
"So, are you new?" Bella asked.
"Um, yeah, you could say that," Mandark nodded.
"Sweet," Bella smiled, "I'm Bella."
"My name is, uh, Susan," Mandark revealed, mentally flinching at using his birth name.
"Susan, huh?" Bella said, "I met a Susan when I was younger. He was weird, but I liked him. Well, I'll let you look around."
She walked off, leaving Mandark on his own. Honestly he couldn't believe she still remembered that. He wonder if she knew that he, Mandark, was that same little 'girl.' He walked around a minute before hearing his name come up in a conversation.
"OMG did you hear about the new kid, Mandark?" One girl said.
"Yeah, he's such a dork!" Another girl said.
"Yeah, eww!" The third girl agreed. Mandark flamed inwardly and was about to butt in when the first girl addressed someone else.
"What do you think, Bella?" The girl asked, "He's a bigger nerd than your brother."
"Me?" Bella looked at them, "Oh. Well, I guess he is... but I think he's kinda... cute?"
The three girls looked at each other before turning back to Bella.
"Bella likes Mandark! Bella likes Mandark!" The girls chanted.
"Shut up!" Bella's face burned red, "So what if I do? Leave me alone..."
"Ewww, you like a dork!" The second girl said, and by now Mandark was barely aware he was eavesdropping.
"He's not a dork," Bella defended, "He's smart. Which is more than I can say for your crushes. What do they have- good looks? And that's it. They have NOTHING else going for them."
She stalked off and Mandark decided to leave. He used the bathroom and remade his more boy-like appearance before exiting the bathroom, thinking about what he had just overheard.
