"You think she's my girlfriend because I'm X-raying her possesions?"
"We all do silly things."
"They do, don't they? Very silly."
Sherlock stretched out his hand. "Oh, but I will have the camera phone."
"It's been stripped, there's nothing on it."
"I know, but I... I'll still have it."
"Sentiment is a chemical defect, found on the losing side."
The ever rule-abiding, Queen-and-country-John eyed him with a hint of panic, and started arguing why Sherlock could not keep a government possesion.
He just kept holding his palm out to John, waiting for the man to give in.
"Sherlock, I have to give this back!"
"Please," he simply said. He didn't even know why. Why would saying 'please' make any difference?
John, opening the door to his room after Sherlock received another text from the Woman. "You okay?"
John, checking the apartment for drugs.
John. "So, she's alive, then. How are we feeling about that?"
John slowly pulled out the phone and placed it gently in Sherlock's outstretched hand.
"Thank you."
