AN: Wow...first story on fanfic and it's a Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated story. Never thought I'd see the day that I chose to show my story off instead of read someone else's. It was different to be the pursuer rather than the pursued. There was a time it was Velma who threw herself at him. Now Velma had moved on. To be the rejected one, "like" sucked. Shaggy thought about all the times Velma would corner him, the heat of her body close to his and the almost kisses...and he threw it all away. Just because there was a time he was too immature to handle more than one relationship. He, unlike most boys his age, couldn't separate a true friendship comrade-like relationship with his dog from a loving and intimate relationship with a real live woman. Now he was paying the price.
Seeing Velma holding hands with Hot Dog Water or Marci made him squirm uncomfortably. Seeing his ex-girlfriend sitting oh so close to Marci, Velma almost sitting in her lap, their sock covered legs intertwined, the light from their shared laptop screen reflecting off their thick lenses made Shaggy feel a wistful longing for the good ol days.
Velma had indeed moved on and found better. Instead of a self-centered little boy whose life revolved around food and a freaky talking dog, she found a disheveled but brilliant woman who strived to be there for her at every twist and turn that life threw at them. Looking at Hot Dog Water wearing one of Velma's orange oversized sweaters rubbing noses, stealing quick kisses and murmuring sweet nothings to each other across the mystery machine made Shaggy's stomach twist into knots. Even Scooby's rough voice failed to calm Shaggy's nerves. And as the two geniuses solved the current mystery, the scooby snacks tasted like ashes in Shaggy's mouth.
