Chapter 1: Elie
Pain shoots up my head.
No...not just my head...my whole body seems to be on fire...
"Stop it! What are you doing!?!! What have I done to you?!?!" I remember crying out.
"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO--!"
...I can't take it anymore! A scream tears through the night. And I know it to be mine...my scream...
For a moment I wonder how I could produce such a loud and shrill sound...but the mind-numbing pain that is filling me quickly drives the thought away, almost before it even began to be formed...
I think I screamed again. And again...and again...and finally a long blood- curling one escapes my mouth...
My throat feels so scratchy now... sore...
There has to be an end to this! A limit! It MUST be impossible for pain this much to exist. Shouldn't I have already passed out from all the pain?
Contrary to what people may think, I don't wish for death. Not even a quick and 'merciful' one that would put me out of this misery.
So I refuse to die. I will live. I will accomplish my quest. I will find my true self!
Until then, I will fight and I will never give up...Akiramenai...
Zettai ni akiramenai!
As if on cue, another bolt of power or lightning strikes me...
I don't scream this time...Akiramenai...I moan out softly. Haru would no doubt agree with me. He too has a quest and an important one at that. I was really happy he decided to help me with my search...
How long has it been anyway? Since we first met? I don't know...I can't remember anymore...I can't think...
Haru...where is he? Haru...where are you?
I think I taste blood on my lips...
I can't be sure...
