Lily:
Lily watched the two raven haired men play with her son in the sea. Harry was fascinated by the waves. Sirius was holding him and James was splashing water on the giggling baby's feet. It was their first holiday as a family- well, seeing as none of their actual family could attend, they brought Sirius and Remus instead.
"How long before they ask us to join them?" Remus asked. He was lying on a towel, reading a thick book.
"What do you mean? Us? They both know that there is nothing that will get me to move from this spot, not even Voldermort in a polka dot bikini, brandishing a pineapple and singing Somewhere over the rainbow." She playfully hit the tawny haired man on the shoulder. "Sorry mate, looks like you have to face them on your own!"
"Well, let the blame rest on your head when they make me skinny dip. Just a random question, but how the hell have you got your figure back after Harry?" Remus quizzed. Lily was shocked; Remus had never expressed an interest in her figure.
"Lots and lots of swimming." She grinned. He raised an eyebrow at her.
"Only swimming? No other help at all?"
"Well, Gillyweed helped a lot. I think it stretches the muscles during the transformation." She whispered to Remus.
"Ah, the many properties of Gillyweed never cease to amaze..." Remus muttered. Lily looked down at her flat stomach, and traced the thin line going across it. She grinned to herself as she remembered how she got it.
There was another report on the TV about the heat wave spreading across Europe. The electric fan blew a few cards from her colleagues at St Mungo's off the mantelpiece. Maisy sat at the end of her feet, purring.
And Lily Evans-Potter was stuck inside again.
This baby was two weeks late and still showing no signs of emerging. James had tried to get time off work, but because of the rise in attacks by death eaters, the ministry needed them now more than ever. Her mother and father were meant to be coming down any day now, but Petunia was having problems with her newborn. And, being the younger of the two Evans daughters, she got more attention. After Lily had headed off to Hogwarts, Tuney had been getting into a lot of trouble. She had fallen in with the wrong crowd, met up with that horrible Dursley boy and fallen pregnant. At only sixteen and heavily pregnant, she made the rash decision to get married to the father. Now she and Vernon were having problems with Dudley, or whatever his name was. Naturally, she had demanded their parent's attention and told them not to bother with 'That unnatural cow'. Sirius had tried to pop round once in a while, but the ministry needed him too. Peter had been busy as well. So the only Marauder to pop round often was Remus, being out of work. Dumbledore had asked him to keep a low profile, seeing as how Voldermort was recruiting werewolves.
Lily was just about to switch over to a muggle daytime talk show when the contractions started again. She grabbed hold of the sofa tightly, but this time it felt different.
It was coming.
Lily rushed over to the fireplace, grabbing some floo powder.
"The ministry, Kingsley Shacklebolts office!" She yelled. She felt her head being taken to London, and she could see the desk legs. "KINGSLEY!" She yelled. "KINGSLEY, GET JAMES IN HERE NOW!!" She screamed. She saw a man rush into the room.
"Lily is everything alright..." Kingsley started.
"THE BABY IS COMING! GET JAMES HERE NOW!!" She yelled.
"Oh! I'll just go get him..." He ran off for a few seconds, and came back with another pair of legs.
"Lily! Are you sure that-"
"YES I BLOODY WELL AM SURE!" She reached out a hand and grabbed James's leg tightly.
"Right! Well, just get out of the fireplace and I'll floo back to you!" He looked into his wife's eyes with a mixture of fear and excitement. Her face disappeared, and he grabbed a handful of floo powder.
"It's okay, sweetheart. I'll apparate us to just outside the hospital, then we can check in."
"JUST GET US THERE!" James apparated to outside the muggle hospital. St Mungo's didn't do maternity services, so witches had to check into regular muggle hospitals.
A few hours and a lot of contractions later Lily was lying in her hospital bed. And still no baby. James was holding on tightly to her hand and her parents were going to be over soon, as was Remus and Sirius.
"It's okay, sweetie. Little Harry James will be here soon." James hushed.
"No he won't, little Willow Lily will be. I've told you, it's going to be a girl. I can feel it." Lily said in a hoarse voice.
"Willow Lily sounds stupid. They sound too similar. People will start calling her Lillow Willy or something like that."
"Well what do you suggest?"
"How about Hannah Lily?"
"You know, that doesn't sound half bad..." Lily stroked her stomach. "Hannah Lily Potter. Are you a little Hannah?" She whispered to her bump.
"No, it's a Harry. My mother did that pendulum test, you saw her. And it said that it's going to be a boy."
"And that whole pendulum thing is absolute bullshi-" A patronus in the form of a lynx came through the door.
"James, the ministry needs you now. The Prewett brothers have just been murdered by Voldermort himself, we really need you. Lily, I'm sorry that we have to steal him and I hope the baby is okay." The deep voice sounded. Lily put a hand to her mouth.
"The Prewett brothers?" She said, eyes filled with tears. James showed no emotion, but his face had lost all colour.
"Lily, I'm so sorry..."
"No, it's fine. My parents will be here soon, and this baby seems to like it in there. I don't think it'll come out for a while." She grabbed James's hand. "Be careful."
"I will. You too." He kissed her softly. "See you soon." He whispered. A few minutes after he left, a nurse came in.
"Mrs Potter, a call just came through. Your parents say they're sorry, but they can't make it." The nurse looked at her in pity. It looked like Lily was going to give birth alone. She decided to rest until the baby came...
"Lily..." A voice whispered. "Lily it's me, Remus." The soft voice carried on.
"Remus?" She asked the voice. She was still half asleep, but she wanted company.
"Yes, Lily." She felt someone grab her hand. "I'm here."
"James...Ministry...Prewett brothers..." She whispered.
"I know, Dumbledore told me before I got here. I think the nurse needs to see you, so you have to wake up properly." Lily slowly sat up against her pillow. The nurse was standing by the door with the doctor.
"Mrs Potter, we need to take a look at you..." The doctor said.
"A caesarean?" Lily asked, horrified. "No, I really do not like that idea."
"I'm sorry, Mrs Potter, but it looks like the only way."
"Will I be asleep?"
"Yes, we will put you under anaesthetic. This also means that Mr Potter will not be allowed in the operation room." The doctor looked at Remus.
"Oh! No, I'm just a family friend. Mr Potter had to leave." Remus said quickly.
"Right...well, we best be getting it underway. Excuse us for a moment." The doctor and the nurse disappeared behind the other side of the curtain.
"Remus, I'm scared..."
"It's okay, I have the invisibility cloak. I can sneak in and hold your hand if you like."
"That would be great." Lily grabbed his arm tight. The doctor reappeared.
"Mrs Potter, we're going to anaesthetize you now. If your friend would like to wait in the waiting area..." He gestured to Remus.
"Of course. I'll see you soon." He gave Lily a weak smile and left the room.
And she was alone again.
She dreamt of flowers and fields of corn. Rainbows and clouds, sunshine and stars. In her dreams Lily discovered something: Anaesthetic was good. Somehow, she mentally decided that she was indeed having a boy. James was right again. He'd never live it down. Then the scene changed, and she was in a dark room. There was a cloaked man at the end of the room, and he was holding her baby. He let out a cold, high, cruel laugh. There was as flash of green light, and then...
She was looking at a white ceiling. She could faintly hear babies crying. The smell of disinfectant lingered. Lily sat up and saw a man sitting in a chair next to her holding a small bundle.
"Nice to see you're awake. Want to meet your son?" Remus handed the small bundle to Lily, who smiled.
"So, you're Harry after all." She muttered. The boy had a tuft of jet back hair and emerald green eyes.
"James said that he'll try to make it over soon. He's very excited." Remus said, looking at Harry. He held a small box to Lily. "Chocolate?"
