Three agents tackled Martin Deeks to the ground. The thud that followed resonated throughout the room. Kensi stood, shell shocked, her gun drawn and pointed at the blonde detective. Sam moved towards the agents as Callen stood still.
"What's going on?" Sam asked, not understanding why one member of their team was down on the ground and another pointing her weapon at him. Callen turned towards Kensi.
"Kensi?" Callen asked, disbelief at the scene penetrating his voice. The agents hauled Deeks up, the aforementioned scuffle resulting in a bloody lip. The blue-eyed surfer looked into dark eyes and wanted to laugh. He shook his head briefly, then casually looked into the elite agent's eyes once more.
"You had me fooled. I'm impressed. They were right about you, you are elite." Deeks said, his characteristic grin showing off the bloodied lip.
"They would be right." Kensi felt the break within as she said the words, and knew what this assignment had cost her.
"Someone want to tell me what's going on?" Sam demanded, frustrated and unclear as to who he should be protecting. Callen looked between the agent and detective in handcuffs, now having his rights read. He turned slightly in Deeks direction.
"You're the mole?" Callen asked, the statement filled with doubt. Deeks continued to stare at Kensi, then nodded his head. Three agents started to pull Deeks away as Kensi continued to stand with her gun on him.
"Princess?" Deeks hopeful and gleeful look belied his betrayal. Kensi's hand tightened around her gun momentarily.
"Mole?" Sam walked over to stand in front of Deeks. "You're the mole? Deeks, is that true?" As the Navy Seal held his breath, Deeks grinned before waving with one handcuffed wrist slightly.
"Give my love to the family, Sam. And oh, Kensi? Princess, I'll see you again soon." Deeks said before he was dragged away. Sam turned and glanced at Callen, both noticing Kensi's weapon still held as if to defend. "Kensi, what's going on?" Silence worried both men as much as Deeks being arrested. Callen stepped forward and reached out his hand to lower Kensi's gun.
"Kensi?" Callen asked, looking around quickly. "What's going on?"
"Martin Deeks was the mole. Kensi received her assignment to gain his confidence, at any cost, to determine if he was a traitor and to expose him." Hetty said, walking into the bullpen. Sam and Callen looked at their petite boss.
"You pretended to love him? All this time, and the moving in, the" Sam faltered, then became quiet. The look on Kensi's face said it all. Yes, she had been on assignment. No, she didn't pretend to love him. That weakness, that love she had waited her whole life for, would cost her dearly. Martin Deeks, who was now one of the most wanted men for committing treason, knew her better than anyone. He knew she loved him, would die for him, and that would cost her dearly.
