Simba sat atop Pride Rock, his hazel eyes sweeping over the landscape before him, before settling on something in the distance. A spot far away that was quicky getting bigger as it ran in his direction. It was Kovu. The younger lion was running with his daughter, Kiara, and Timon and Pumba in a nearby tall grass field. A whistful smile curved Simba's lips as he watched his son-in-law.
How many years had it been since he'd seen that dark mane and dark bronze fur coast? How many years since he'd run like that, chasing the dark fur on his tail? How many years since he'd slow down and let Simba ounce on his head, knocking both to the ground?
"To many." Simba whispered. Kovu's form suddenly shifted under his gaze becoming skinnier, longer, older.
Sima laughed as he pounced on his Uncle. The older lion chickled as he fell onto the grass.
"I got you Uncle Scar!" Simba grinned.
"So you did." Scar chuckled, "but what are you going to do now that you've caught me?"
Scar's voice dropped several octaves and his eyes became half-lidded. Sumba shudderd at the look. He looked into Scar's eyes, seeing an emotion that was only present during times like this.
Simba felt Scar shift when his tail brushed over the older lion's stomach. Simba leaned forward his small tongue brushing Scar's cheek. Scar purred as-
"Simba?" his mates sudden call pulled him from his memories.
Simba turned a sNala stepped up beside him. She looked out over the Pride Lands and smiled, catching sight of the four playing.
"Aren't they cute" she cooed, "they remind me of us at that age, don't you think." Simba smiled when Nala turned to him, though it didn't reach his eyes.
"Yes, they do."
Yeah, I know it really short, but I like it. I don't think I need to make it any longer.
