Clothing Malfunctions
I thought since the X-Men seemed to be able to instantly change into their uniforms, that once or twice they'd put on the wrong clothes by accident.
"Ah, shoot." Rogue looked at the time. "Time for the Danger Room."
Her roommate groaned. "Yippee."
Rogue shrugged. "Let's get this over with."
Bamf!
"You coming?" Kurt asked. "It starting any minute now and Logan's not in a good mood. Something about Bobby putting ice in his shoes."
"Bobby's not that stupid…" Rogue looked at Kurt in surprise.
"I think he mixed up ze shoes. Was trying to get someone else. He didn't say who he vas trying to prank." Kurt explained, shrugging.
Rogue opened the door. She stepped out, of the room, suddenly in her X-Man costume. "Ah have no idea how we do that." Rogue frowned at herself.
"Hey, it's useful." Jean pointed out, stepping past. "Kitty? You coming?"
"Sure." Kitty fell through the floor. "Catch you in a bit."
Why was everyone staring at her?
"What is it?" Kitty asked, feeling self-conscious. The senior X-Men had assembled for the Danger Room session. But now everyone was staring at her like she'd grown an extra head.
"Yeesh, Kitty… how'd ya do that?" Rogue raised an eyebrow.
"Do what?" Kitty patted her neck, just in case.
"Kitty?" Kurt said, smiling slightly. "Uh… look at your uniform."
Kitty glanced down at her clothes. They weren't her civilian clothes, but they weren't her X-Men clothes either. They were…
"Kitty… you're a Siren." Scott said, trying to hide a smile.
"I can see that." Kitty stared at herself. "Okay, our changing abilities have always been totally freaky, but this is just weird."
"I didn't know you could put on the wrong costume on our quick change." Bobby shook his head.
"Well, being able to do that would've been useful when the Sirens were actually in business." Jean said thoughtfully. "I mean, remember that toll-booth guy?"
Kitty and Rogue nodded. "Yeah, and he probably won't forget us soon." Rogue pointed out with a smile.
The boys looked at each other and shrugged.
"Whatever. The Bayville Sirens were still crime-fighters." Scott said, gesturing to the Danger Room. "And Logan's still ticked off, Bobby."
"Hey, it wasn't my fault!"
"Zen who's fault was it?" Kurt asked.
"Uh… okay, it was technically my fault but Sam was the one who dared me and I mixed up the shoes and…"
"Let's just go in." Rogue groaned.
Logan looked up as the five X-Men and one Bayville Siren came in. "Bout time. Been waiting for – Half-pint, what happened to you?"
"You know how we change very quickly into our uniforms?" Scott gave up hiding the grin.
"Yeah…"
"Well, Kitty put on the wrong one." Kurt finished.
Kitty groaned. "That's it, I'm gonna go change my clothes the old fashioned way." She walked out the door.
"Should we stop her?" Scott looked at Wolverine.
Logan shrugged. "Hey, she'll come back soon."
He was right. A few moments later Kitty walked back through the door. Everyone glanced at her and looked away, hiding smiles.
After the training practice finished Jean stepped up to Kitty. "Kitty… you didn't actually change the regular way, did you?" It was more a fact than a question.
"Well, no… I like figured I was late, so…"
"Just wondering." Jean slipped off.
Frowning, Kitty stepped into the bathroom and looked at her reflection. To her surprise, she was wearing her sports uniform for school.
She looked in the mirror at herself and then shrugged. "Hey, it worked." She said aloud to herself, stepping through the wall.
When she came out again, she was dressed in her blue shirt and baggy jeans.
"Still don't know how we do that…"
