Nobody's Perfect

He didn't want to believe it, that she'd sold out, that everything around him was only possible because of some twisted Faustian bargain made a lifetime ago.
She'd given him a swift, curt reminder that he'd only known her for three out of her hundred and fifty-nine years, he just hadn't realized then how much he needed to be reminded.
Nobody's perfect.
Especially him. Because despite his anger - at her, at the situation - he had witnessed the regret in her eyes, and he can't let her pay for her mistakes with her life.
And everyone thought Tesla was a selfish bastard…
Taking his anger out on Adam had helped some, even more so when he realized the possibility of a cure behind that snake's actions.
Now he just had to convince his dying boss.
Following a hunch he catches her leaving the main infirmary.
"Magnus!"
She doesn't even turn around, just keeps walking, "Not now, Will."
He won't deny it hurts.
"Magnus, wait! There's a cure!"
That stops her in her tracks, but she still refuses to look at him.
"How?"
"Hollow Earth. Worth isn't going to lie down and die that easily, Magnus, think about it. He wouldn't be so god damn smug if he didn't know there was a cure, and he just confirmed it to me."
"Or you're simply playing right into his hands, and there is no cure. It's the perfect revenge to take me down with him, especially like this."
She knows where his buttons are and she's pushing on them hard, but he swallows back a cutting remark, moving as close as he dares.
"Maybe you're right, maybe I am grasping at straws, but is this really how you want to go out? At least talk to him, see for yourself if I'm as gullible as you say. Please."
He doesn't want to beg, but at this point he's willing to do whatever it takes.
She must sense this determination, because she sighs, nodding.
"I'll talk to him."
Turning and walking past him towards Worth's room, however, he grabs her forearm, letting his thumb rub the tense skin and muscle he finds there as his eyes finally meet hers.
"I'm not ready to give up on you that easily either, Magnus."
She surprises him by covering his hand with hers, squeezing it hard before silently pulling away.
