The feeling of energy flowing through my body. I could feel it as it moved, slowly yet full of purpose. Flowing through my seven chakras. Filling me with the peace and calm I wanted.

The shift in my weight as I fixed my stance. My feet apart, right in front, facing slightly forward, left back facing to the side. Knees bent, readying my legs to move at moments notice. My back straight and leaning forward. My elbows out and my hands in the ready position a foot apart in front of my chest.

The cold feeling around me as I sensed my surroundings. I was standing on ice and the air was cold, the wind blowing right through my parka.

My eyes slowly opened as I concentrated. I was alone, on a piece of ice almost surrounded completely by freezing water. I let my gaze travel to the water around me.

A flick of the hand and rocking of my arms. My hands flowed around each other as if making a snowball, and my arms slowly rose up toward near my chin. Then I cupped my hands together.

Slowly shifting my weight around trying to think as fluidly as the water around me. My motions were fluid, my stance liquidy, my whole purpose ready to choose a different alternative if one didn't work.

I smoothly jerked my left hand up and I was joyous to see the result.

"Sis! Where are you?! Gran Gran wants you!"

The jerky ball of water I had made float in the air splashed to the ground at the sound of my brother's voice. I angrily turned and stomped back to the village, already tired from thinking of the chores I'd do today.

My name is Katara. I am the last water bender of the South Pole.
