Jack needed noise to sleep. As a baby he was coaxed to sleep buy the hum of his father's tour buss. While in adolescence the sighs of the ocean was his lullaby. Now Jack was escorted to Summerland by turning on his mp3 player and letting it play into the night.
Little Jack the Ferret and Hector were silently rummaging through the fridge down stairs, while Jack and Bill were preparing for bed. Bill was putting on his knit socks (his feet got chilly no matter how warm it was out side) and Jack was selecting his playlist for the night. He felt like listening to Smother Me first, then La Lune, and after that (if he was still awake) Lonely Day.
Hector appeared in the door way with a glass of water in one hand and Little Jack in the other. "Must you always play that?" Hector mused as he tucked Little Jack into his new pet bed.
"Aye he must, "Bill sated, opening a window and taking out a cigarette from the pack on Jack's desk. Jack nodded and hit 'play'. Hector stood watching Bill smoke and Jack get comfterble. By the 'let me be the one who never leaves you all alone' portion of the song Bill grinded his cigarette into the window seal and joined Jack. Around the 'Still need you here with me' part Hector promptly turned the mp3 player off and dropped out the open window.
"The bloody hell was that?" jack yelled. He ran to the window peering out to see his mp3 player hanging by its head phones.
"You need to learn how to sleep with just, beautiful, peaceful, silence," Hector said. He got into bed next to Bill who was smirking slightly. Jack huffed, stomping towards the bed, stopping, heading back to the window then finally deciding to settle under the covers.
Pouting Jack snuggled as close to Bill as he could, hoping that the sound of his breath and heart beat would be enough to allow him to sleep.
Bill and Hector thought it did, until about four in the morning when they were awoken with a loud crack and found Jack out side hanging above a broken tree branch with his mp3 player in hand.
