Smile

Shino had never been one to show his emotions. Never shown his happiness, sadness, his excitement or even his disappointment. Never shown his weakness to anyone, but that's because everyone knew his weakness.

His team mates.

His friends kept him alive, kept him smiling under his high collar jacket, they kept him feeling.

In Shino's family, words were never really needed. He did not starve from lack of affection; his beautiful mother had spoken volumes with her soft brown eyes. She would touch his head, linger at his bedroom door, and softly hum a song she had sung to him as a baby.

His father would nod his head at him when he felt his son needed to know how he felt. He was ask minor questions to let Shino know that he was interested, but more importantly he would train with him in his spare time to bond and keep him close.

But his team was just as important as his family. Hinata, with her soft eyes, sweet voice and timid ways. But she was strong and she was full of grace and dignity. She was gentler then the wind on a warm spring day and the way she would worry about him after a battle would cause him a slight feeling of annoyance and gratefulness.

And Kiba with his brash nature and loud mouth, the one who would thump him on the back with every accomplishment and would yell about how they had 'smashed those suckers into maggot dust.' The boy who grew into a fine man but still held onto his childish ways. He would always attempt the thump fists and protected him when he was weak.

They weren't just friends, they were family and under that high collared jacket they always made him smile.
