- Wait! Alice, please don't leave me. I didn't want to come here in the first place!
- Case, come on. You need to have fun! I'm gonna get us some drinks and be back in a blink. Ok?
Casey sighed. It was so hard to keep up with her friend, and probably that was the last time she'll see her that night. It was just natural… She met guys, talked to them for a while and bam! The day after she would be telling everyone how she ended up having sex in a bathtub at 2 a.m in the morning.
Not that she wanted to have…uhh… have sex in a bathtub or anything. She just wanted to interact with guys… hot guys without making a fool of herself, but that was just not possible. And now, she had to admit, ended up stuck in a stranger's party and alone.
-And bored, of course.
- What's so boring princess?
Casey jumped. A guy, a cute one, somehow managed to reach her back with the coolest hand and scared her to death.
-CHRIST!
- Sorry. I didn't mean to make you jump, princess. I just heard the word "bored" coming out of your mouth and I was curious.
She couldn't help feeling a little bit pissed, maybe because he was listening people's conversations or because that smirk he used to finish the sentence got on her nerves. Whatever the reason was, at least he was talking with her… sort of.
-Uhh… yeah, I guess. I'm just… - Casey sighed again. – Everything about this party is… boring.
- And why's that?
- You know when people get together, and they have nothing to do or talk about, so they just drink and convince themselves they're having a good time?
- Uhmm, no.
- Well, this is exactly the situation. Everyone is getting drunk and dancing… if you can call that "dancing", but no one's actually enjoying the party. Just look around… they're so worried about what everyone is thinking about them… And this…- She said while grabbing a beautiful, flowered vase full of Cheetos. - What kind of jerk does this?
The question just hangs there between them a few seconds, followed by the characteristic awkward silence she knew so well. "Oh my… I did it again" Struggling to find the right to fill the silence, she could feel her mouth opening and closing without making any sound. At this point, the cute guy was looking at her like saying "okay you're a weirdo" and was about to leave when Alice appeared.
-Oh, hey Derek! I was looking for you and… Casey! Sorry, forgot our drinks.
- Hey Alice – Derek gave her friend a hug.
- Derek, this is my friend Casey. Casey, this is Derek, the party host and old friend of mine.
The blush found its way from her neck to her cheeks. Awesome, all these time she was ranting about the party with the host. Well done, Case!
-Oh, I… I…
-We're leaving now. Do you want to dance, Der?- Alice pushed his shoulder.
- Of course, sweetheart. Bye, princess, nice to meet you. Next time, try to be a little less weirdo, ok? You're cute.
Winking at her, Derek turned his back and left her feeling miserable. Little did she know, that wasn't the last time she would feel like that because of him.
