Proof

Once upon a time there was a girl and a boy. She was his best mate's little sister and he was a hero. She lived a simple life and he lived a dangerous one. There love was passionate, but forbidden. One thing could change that: Proof. Harry and Ginny must find some proof of their true love for their relationship to go any further.

"Ginny, I need to talk to you…alone." Harry's serious expression told her it was something important. Harry and Hermione were staying the summer at the Burrow. They were having a family reunion after Voldemort was defeated. Harry and Hermione were invited, for they were members of the Weasley family, even if not officially. The home was packed full of redheads and poor Harry hardly got a moment's peace with his girlfriend, Ginny.

"Sure, Harry, just a minute. I promised I'd help mum fix dinner." She smiled happily, making his stomach churn and flip. Her happiness was so pure, so innocent, he felt guilty for what he wanted to do. Somehow he felt it would ruin her angelic self, but he couldn't stand it any more.

"No. Now." His tone was firm, yet gentle. She knew not to disobey him any longer. She put down the spoon she was stirring the soup with and followed him outside silently. Something told her something was up.

Harry held both of her hands in his relaxed at his thighs. He starred intently and her beautiful chocolate brown eyes. She starred back patiently, waiting for what he so desperately wanted to tell her. "Ginny," He loved the sound of her name. It was so simple, yet so lovely, "I love you, very much."

She smiled shyly. "I love you too, Harry! And I'm so glad that you're home safely from war—""Yes! That's what I have wanted to talk to you about! You see while I was at war, I realized that I have put off many things in my life that I have wanted to do, but not any more." His face turned from desperation to determination and Ginny's eyes read confusion. "Ginny Weasley, will you marry me?"

She stood there stunned. He was now on one knee looking up at her hopefully. She tried to talk, but nothing came out. Finally, she was able to make out a muted "yes". He couldn't believe it. His grin was so big it sprouted one on her face as well. He lifted her up and spun her around. They were happy, truly happy, but now they had to tell the family.

"Harry, Ginny, dinner's ready!" Molly called them inside and there sat the Weasleys and Hermione waiting for the love birds to come in.

"Let's wait for dinner to finish before we tell them." Ginny whispered, eyeing her brothers.

"No. Let's tell them now." Harry said decidedly. "Weasleys, we have something to say," Harry began, as they turned to face Harry and Ginny, "We have decided to get married."

"No! Ginny is my little sister and she hasn't even finished school yet! How could you?!" Ron was outraged.

Hermione glared at Ron. "I'm excited for you, but are you sure that's what you want to do? You are awfully young."

"Yes, but we would wait until I finished school and we love each other." Ginny said, looking at Harry with longing in her eyes.

"Well, this is indeed shocking, but we should talk it over tomorrow. Much too much has happened today. We are all worked up. Let's eat now and relax." Arthur said rationally. The whole time Ron and the twins glared at Harry. He was no longer friend to them.

"Well, I think we'll need some sort of proof of our love, Ginny. I'll leave tomorrow early. You stay. It will all work out." Harry whispered into her ear. The next morning the Burrow was Harry-less.
