Part One:
Sarah Royals
Chapter One: No Surprise
Every chapter that I'm going to do is named off of song title's. So this chapter chapter is No Surprise, for the first. My oc is named Sarah Royals, but her superhero name is Nightshade, you'll find out why. No cruel remarks or reviews be nice, please? Well, here we go. I don't know about the last name, any suggestions review please. I also listen to different songs during the story, so if something's too sad or gushy, just keep that in mind.
No Surprise belongs to Daughtry and their respective record label.
Thank you, Enjoy!
I've practiced this for hours, gone round and round
And now I think that I've got it all down
And as I say it louder, I love how it sounds
'Cause I'm not taking the easy way out
Not wrapping' this in ribbons
Shouldn't have to give a reason why
It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow
I can't believe that I stayed till today
Yeah you and I will be a tough act to follow
But I know in time we'll find this was no surprise
It came out like a river once I let it out
When I thought that I wouldn't know how
Held onto it forever, just pushing it down
Felt so good to let go of it now
Not wrapping this in ribbons
Shouldn't have to give a reason why
There's a lot of things in my life I'd wish I could change. Unfortunately, everything I tried but it never works to change my future. I stopped trying when they found me, they brought me here to this compound. I traveled over the whole country to find them, I shook the image of him dying before me. I revived the motorcycle engine the wind whipping my brown/black curls behind me. It was traumatizing, and not able to do anything, not able to say goodbye. I seen two people die before me, and one was bad. I tried saving Processor, but I was just thrown away and beaten on. I heard her screams, she was screaming for her life, screaming against her bounds. Mine were on my wrists, the metal leaving red welts on my tan skin. I blocked my face from the metal pipe smashing into my face.
When my legs achieved to shove Logan's clone back, I screaming my battle cry, the bounds came off like nothing. My golden eye's glow illuminating his face in a gold haze. Loagn's figure (non clone) came running his claws blazing, I ran to the clone, jumped sideway, my feet hit his chest, he flew back onto Logan's claws going right through his chest. A vehicle exploded, and I spun around ready to fight again. A wolf snarl left my throat, my shoulders heaving, I looked at Logan when he said my name.
"Sarah," He gazed at me with fatherly love and pride.
A car horn blared behind, I blinked seeing the light had turned green, I glared over my shoulder. I picked up my foot and sped off, the screen Stark built into my bike monitored my speed, gear and everything else. The screen began to light up, catching my attention, I pressed two fingers against right eye and spoke. I leaned to the side to turn onto the hidden road to the compound,
"You know how dangerous it is to have a call in Manhattan traffic?" I heard Steve groaned and I smiled.
"Will you let it go? One time Royals, where are you now?" He asked, I used my keen sight, to enlarge on Steve Rogers.
"I see you!" Sarah sang. "I'm about five minutes away. Why ya miss me, you blond hunk?"
"Sarah," I seen him smile, and a little color spread on his face.
"You're blushing Cap, I can still see you," I grinned.
"I can see you coming up the road. Pay attention before you crash, Royals," His figure began to blur and minimize as I paid attention to the road.
"Never have I," I laughed at Natasha's comment in the background.
"Oh goodbye, Sarah!" He laughed and hung up.
I laughed and pulled at the entrance of the compound, a blue light scanning me, before I was granted access. I parked my bike, and entered the building, I passed the multiple rooms before sweeping my ID card and it opened up to the Avenger suite. Vision greeted me before, Wanda brought me into a tight hug. She then pulled back, and pinched her nose.
"Sorry, being in the woods for two weeks can make you stink without showering," I retorted, sarcastically.
She softly hit my arm, and grinned with my canines flaring, "How can you do that without being an actual wolf?"
"Genes, it's complicated, mostly happens in defense, when I'm happy, and other things. Just leave it at complicated, Wanda!" She laughed after me as I headed for my room, avoiding Steve on the way, I grabbed fresh clothes and a towel along with my toiletry bag.
I hurried for the shower's, and baths, I selected soaps and turned the water on. I washed my hair with honey and cocoa butter soap, leaving my curls nourished and shined. Waiting for the strawberry, and spearmint body wash to come out of the glass container, the showers door opened. The steam in the room, had mt keen eye's focusing the figure. I sighed in relief to Natasha there, I turned away, and lathered my body in the fruit and minty smelling soap.
Wrapping a the white towel around my soft caramel tanned water slick skin. I took out my toothpaste and toothbrush, Natasha came out with a blue towel around her.
She nodded at me once and I repeated the action. I combed my hair, and went out to the locker room type thing. The marble floor was cold under my feet, the gray metallic lockers and benches contrasted well with each other. It's been two months since I came here, I dressed and walked out to the combined living room and kitchen.
"She was avoiding you, Steve," Wanda snitched as I glared at her.
Rogers turned in his seat, his blue eye's met my goldenone's. I couldn't get over the fact how beautiful he was, I smirked at him, then glared at Wanda.
"Isn't she amazing? You know, I gotta go to the training room," I tried to slip away.
"Sarah!" Steve called after me.
I turned around, with a smile on my face, "Yes, father?"
Wanda laughed, and Steve just smirked, he stood. My breath stopped as he walked toward me, Wanda left the room, I shied away from Steve's blue eye's. I crossed my arms and shifted my weight.
"Sarah, you okay?" He mimicked my posture, well his posture I stole it. Hehe.
"Yeah, I just needed to be out there. I just needed a break," I shrugged.
I heard Wanda whispering to Natasha, and dug my nails into my sides. I looked up at him, and I looked away toward the direction of the training room.
"Are you sure? That doesn't convince me when you won't look me in the eye," I looked at him, hiding my adoration, and fear.
"I'm going to go train," I stepped around him, before he grabbed my arm.
He looked deeply in my eye's, I couldn't turn away this time, I seen green in his blue irises. His eye's were absolutely beautiful, he had a beautiful soul, he was beautiful. Then someone else invaded my mind, chills ran through my body, and I looked at hand on my bicep. I heard his heart skip a beat when my eye's met his. His grip loosened but he didn't let go fully, I looked up when he softly sighed. His face was so close to mine, I thought about closing that distance but that wasn't allowed.
"Sorry, it was just- I'll see you later, I guess," He hadn't let go, I put my other hand on his.
"Stark's in the house!" We both looked at Tony, and then rose an eyebrow at us. "What's going on here? Are you two like finally together?"
"Tony," Steve let me go. "It's good to see you too," I looked at both them and I took my leave.
"
I'll see you guys later," I headed for the garage instead of going to the training room.
I hurried over to my motorcycle, I then thought about what I was doing. Why was I running away from this? Why am I so emotional? I'm not like this, I always straight forward, so why did Steve make me feel so nervous? Why was I such a ninny? I walked back to the balcony, and was lost in thought, I haven't heard Tasha approach.
She was right next to me, and looking over the country with me. I wasn't there in mind, though I was there in body.
"A penny for your thoughts?" She said, making my instincts kick in like high-wire.
My eye's glew, my canines flared, and a startled snarl erupted from my throat as I jumped back. When I registered it was her, I calmed down, but my canines never flattened. I willed them done but I couldn't shake the feeling of a threat. I tilted my head to the door, and Natasha looked at me funny. I acted before the door exploded. I swung Natasha behind me, and crouched ready to spring, I growled at our attacker.
I sprung at them but a something wrapped around my neck. I kicked at them, when I realized who it was I froze. I stared at a clone of me in my suit. It was impossible,
I seen Natasha freeze in shock, her pistol was drawn. I kicked 'myself' in the left side of my ribs, hoping my last injury would make 'me' falter. Instead 'I' didn't, I was hard as rock, I fought against 'myself'. I managed to get my legs around 'my' head, I use my superhuman strength to flip myself over. I seen the team stop at the door, I snarled at 'myself'.
'She' came after me, and I slid to the side, smirking. 'She' glared at me, "Come get me, bitch!" Logan rubbed off on me, and we went after each other. She landed a few punches but I got more. My eye's were blazing, and my shoulders heaving, my canines flared.
We circled each other before I seen her unstealth a dagger.
"This is so fun," I grinned. I managed to gain the upper hand, and I pinned her to the concrete. "This.. is.. for.. LOGAN!" I yelled between punches, I lifted the dagger but someone's hand gripped my wrist.
"That's enough, Sarah," Steve picked me up and moved me away from 'me'.
"NO! No, what are you doing?!" 'I' started to heal from the injuries, and I jumped to my feet when 'I' lifted the dagger again.
I pushed Steve forcefully out of the way, and a gold shockwave exploded from my chest as I screamed, everyone was wiped off their feet. I walked over to 'me' and looked down at her.
"This is for Logan, bitch!" I knelt down and got the courage to do it.
I snapped 'my' neck in a second not going to reconsider it, I had to do it. If I didn't do it, she would heal and get up, I wasn't going to have that. I snatched the dagger away from her, before turning around. They stared at me in disbelief, and I sighed.
"Who's Logan?" Tony asked, I chuckled.
"He was my father when I needed him to be. He took care of me, this clone of me, well he had one. His clone killed him, I didn't think they'd make one of me," I started heading toward the doorway. "Just look out for a small thirteen year with two blades coming out of her knuckles."
"What?!" Sam exclaimed.
"Her name is Laura," I said and walked away.
My canines flattened, I glanced back the blue eyed Russian. I was letting my fear and vulnerability take over my emotions. I can't let my emotions take once and I almost lost Steve, my wolf howl in anger inside my core. When his smiling appeared in my mind it howled again for him, wanting him to be my mate. She pulled me into a hug, I tensed but she rubbed my back.
"Stop being so tense, Sarah. I can see that there's something wrong, talk to me I know what you're going through right now," That made me furious to think she knew but I calmed myself down. She had left to start new, it's hard to adjust from previous activities. She was a assassin she knew it tears you up, and you lose the people you love to your past owners. I slowly accepted her hug letting her motherly love take over me and I let my iron walls down to accept her love.
Accepting a non-mothers love is truly an honor. Natasha couldn't have kids even if she wanted, not biologically, she could adopt but it'd never be the same. My mother was slaughtered in front of me when I was very young. She pulled back, and smiled beautifully at me, I smiled at her. Her happiness was contagious, my canines sharpened but my eyes glew like liquid ribbons.
She froze but I willed them to flatten and I just shook my head. I faced the trees and the breathtaking view, a cool refreshing breeze swept my brown/black hair off my shoulders. She was staring at me in awe like she just seen an angel or something. "What?'' I asked her. She just shook her at me, and also took in the breeze.
"You look like Stark. You're just so beautiful, angelic beautiful. Unique, like no other," She commented.
"Thank you, Natasha," She hugged me again. She left me to my thoughts, I gazed toward the garage. I cracked my knuckles, I looked at my hands. Training sounded good right about now, I walked over to the door and the wind right to my back. The breeze lifted my up, and I caught the scent of a herd of deer.
The scents were appealing, but I'd go hunt later for dinner.
It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow
I can't believe that I stayed till today
There's nothing here in this heart left to borrow
There's nothing here in this soul left to say
Wrapping my hand in tape, I zipped up my black cat suit with golden linings and I black waist belt with my name and a full moon on it. I checked my my black combat before walking into the living room. Tony whistled, and everyone turned, bewildered. I gazed at all of them but was becoming irritated by the gazes. I silenced an audible growl, and snapped.
"Oh my goodness, you guys seen me in this before. I need to train," I rolled my eyes, irritated. When they didn't turn away, I groaned, and stormed out of the room.
Don't be surprised when we hate this tomorrow
God knows we tried to find an easier way
Yeah you and I will be a tough act to follow
But I know in time we'll find this was no surprise
"Tell me what's wrong, Sarah," I turned away from the bag smashing to the floor.
I had been here for an hour and this was the second bag that broke off and hit the ground. I glanced at Steve as I hung up another bag, my height didn't cooperate with me. Roger's took the bag and hung it, once again our eye's meeting again. I stepped away from the close stance, I caught his scent, I shuddered. I sat on the bench and took a swig of my water bottle.
"You're getting worry lines, Steve. Stop worrying so much, you're going to be like Tony," He took in a sharp breath. "I meant like he's worry lines, not his fat ego," I unwrapped my bandaged hands.
He took my hands softly, he rubbed them gently. I let him do so when there was a long silence he then spoke. "I can read you very well, Sarah. Your eyes turn to a brownish hazel when you think so much. You should stop thinking so much, you're getting a crease," He traced a small line between my eyebrows.
My eyes closed at his soft touch, he held my hands in his wide ones. Taking in his scent, my thoughts calmed and mostly went silent, I gripped his hands. A single tear slid down my cheek when I looked up at him, he brought me close to him. Holding me in his strong arms, my thoughts went completely off but my grief stayed, slowly subsiding.
When my sobs died down, he gazed at me, "You okay?"
"I think so," I murmured truthfully. Taking in his scent, I jumped away seeing the scene where Steve was almost killed because of me. I ranked my fingers in my jet-black curly hair, my blue/hazel eyes closed at the terrorizing memory.
"Sarah," He whispered.
"No, I can't, I can't let them come that close to you ever again. I can't let them ever hurt you, not again," I huffed controlling my breathing.
"What? Sarah what are you talking about?" Steve Rogers stood up and walked over to me.
I stepped back from him, " No," I snapped.
But he didn't listen he only put his hands on my upper arms. He held me still when I fought against me, I gazed at him with wide, fear bright eyes. He only glanced back at me, his grip loosened on me. I seen his soul, his soul was pure and good.
Only goodness of man like him only exists in books and fairytales, and that's been proven. But I was going to give him a chance, I turned back to his blue eyes. "Have you ever gone hunting?" I smirked.
"Hunting as in, deer hunting?" He quired.
"Yeah, deer hunting," My smirk grew into a mischievous grin.
Our favorite place we used to go
The warm embrace that no one knows
The loving look that's left your eyes
That's why this comes as no, as no surprise
If I could see the future and how this plays out
I bet it's better than where we are now
But after going through this
It's easier to see the reason why
It's no surprise.. I won't be here tomorrow
I can't believe that I stayed 'til today (stayed 'til today)
Yeah you and I will be a tough act to follow
But I know in time we'll find this was no surprise
The kiss goodnight, it comes with me
Both wrong and right, our memories (our memories)
The whispering before we sleep,
Just one more thing that you can't keep (you can't keep)
Our favorite place we used to go
The warm embrace that no one knows
The lovin' look that's left your eyes
But I know in time we'll find this was no surprise
(And I hope, and I hope, and I hope, and I hope, and I hope.)
