Ed woke up feeling miserable. His nose was stuffy and his head was pounding. He sat up in his bed. Now he felt worse. Slipping his feet into the fluffy bunny slippers beside his bed, he stood up. Ed wrapped his blanket around his shoulders and shuffled out of his room into the landing.
Double Dee woke up to the sound of rapping on his door. He glanced over to the clock on his bedside table. 5:03 AM. He groaned. 'This had better be important...' he thought as he got out of bed and walked to the door. When he opened it he was met with his tall friend.
"Double Deee.." Ed whined with a shiver."I feel baaadd..."
Double Dee blinked. He raised his fore-arm to Ed's forehead tentively, then quickly withdrew. He was burning up.
"Oh my goodness, Ed! You've got a fever!" the shorter boy cried out.
Ed groaned and coughed. Double Dee dragged him out of the landing by an arm and plonked him on the sofa-bed in their living room.
"Now, Ed, you stay here while I make you some tea." Ed complied with a shiver and loud sniff. His head really hurt now. The tall boy sighed loudly and closed his eyes. When he opened them again Double Dee was hovering over him with a steaming cup of tea in his hands.
"Drink this," the sock-headed boy said quietly. "Careful, it's hot."
Ed took the cup quietly, and inhaled some of the steam. He felt a little bit better, already. He took a quick sip and smiled at his friend.
"Thanks Double Dee." Double Dee smiled back at Ed.
"I'm going to wake Eddy up and get him to drive to the drug-store for some cold pills, 'kay?"
"Okay.." replied Ed, taking another sip of the tea and breathing in more steam.
"Once you're done drinking, try getting some sleep"
"Okay.."
Double Dee tiptoed into the landing, then knocked quietly on Eddy's door. He pressed an ear to the door in an attempt to hear something. The sound of snoring reached his ears. With a roll of the eyes, he opened the door and proceeded to Eddy's bed.
"Eddy." Double Dee poked him.
Snoooorrreee
"Eddy." Double Dee poked him again.
Snore-Hrumphmph
"EDDY"
"ARGH!" Eddy sat up and collided his fore-head against Double Dee's. "Oww, What"
"Ed's sick, Eddy"
Eddy glowered at his friend. "So?" he asked.
"I need you to drive to the drug-store and get cold pills." Double Dee continued sternly.
"You fetch them." Eddy harrumphed, lying back down and turning away from him.
"You know I can't drive, Eddy!"
"Grab a bicycle then..."
Double Dee, frowned. Then he had an idea.
"Eddy.. do you want me to turn your underpants pink"
"Wh-What?!"
Double Dee smirked. "I do the laundry, Eddy.. You wouldn't want me to accidentally put your underwear in the red pile, would you"
Eddy stared at the sock-head. "That's low." he said. "Fine.. Fine.. I'll get the stupid medicine." He got up and started pulling on some pants from the floor.
"Thankyou Eddy." Double Dee replied sweetly.
'I must've been a worse influence than I thought..' Eddy thought as he tried to stuff his left leg into the right trouser-sleeve.
"Be careful while your driving, don't go over the speed limit and look out for pedestrians"
"Yes mom." Eddy huffed. He could barely tolerate all the chiding and nitpicking that Double Dee was doing.
"See you when you get back." Double Dee pecked Eddy goodbye on the cheek, then returned to the bed-ridden Ed.
Eddy rubbed his cheek in annoyance, then closed the door behind him and set off for the car. Gestures of affection like that made him feel stupid. He'd probably get another one when he returned with the cold medicine. Eddy hurried down to the car.

Whatcha think?
I always thought of Double Dee as the motherly type. Goodness, it's easy to imagine him as a girl! Heheh. Send me reviews, please[
