Clark sat at the bar feeling truly horrible. Supermen aren't suppose to have families, Supermen aren't suppose to feel what the rest of humanity feels, and most of all Supermen shouldn't change the course of history for one human being. As Clark drinks he dwells deeper into the kryptonite the alcohol contains and as he gets closer to inhibition he starts to think why, why should I care that my son is being raised by another man? Why should I care that Lois will never love the man behind the suit? Why should I care that a room full of reporters are retarded enough not to see me behind a pair of glasses? Why should I care that they haven't done the math on my return vs. superman's return? Why o' why did I come back to a planet that was doing just fine without me? Oh sure Lois would've died in the plane and half of the United States would've been under water but they would've stopped Luthor eventually. Supermen shouldn't feel like this. Supermen should not care. Supermen not even exist. The world loves the idea of a Superman but they don't love the idea of a Superman who eventually leaves them. "Why o' why do I care." Clark thinks as the bartender calls last call. When Clark reaches the door he stares out into the night and says to himself " Humanity might not realize they do I but they call for me every night asking for something I can't give them because I am just a man not a Superman.
