A/N: So, I've been watching 'Lost' a lot lately and I really loved the characters Alex and Karl, so I wanted to do a short one-shot of them on the island, before they were separated from each other. Hope you like it!

"Finally," Alex breathed as she broke through the trees to a small meadow where Karl sat reclined on the ground surrounded by blue and purple flowers.

He turned and looked at her at those words and smiled softly when he saw her.

"Looking for me?" he asked though he knew that she obviously was from the relief on her face at seeing him.

She just smiled and walked over to him, plopping down on the ground at his side, and rested her head on his shoulder. All of the stress and anger the day had piled on her slipped away whenever she was with him, its why she walked two miles to this little meadow where she knew he would be. This was their private spot that they liked to come to to get away from everyone and everything and just enjoy each others company.

"You look exhausted," he whispered, scooting back a little so that she could lay down on her side and rest her head in his lap, so he could play with her hair, breathing in her intoxicating scent.

"Mmmh," she murmured sleepily as he massaged her scalp, her eyes starting to drift closed.

The sun had started to set, it's light dripping down behind the trees and leaving behind bursts of pink, orange, and purple in it's wake, painting the clouds with their colors. The birds in the trees sang their last songs before they went to sleep, and the tiny animals on the ground scrambled to their homes before the creatures of the night came out to play.

The two of them just stayed there like that for what could have been hours, but felt like only minutes. Neither one of them said anything, they both had their eyes closed breathing in the scent of the flowers and pine around them as the vibrant colors in the sky began to fade away until all that was left was a light glow from the sun before it disappeared, swallowed up by the night.

It was still very warm outside – it always stayed warm out all through the nights during summer on the island – it only added to it's ecstasy.

"Alex?" Karl finally whispered just in case she had fallen asleep, not wanting to disturb her.

"Yes Karl?" she whispered back, taking the hand that was still playing with her hair in hers and turned it over to kiss the inside of his palm, then sat up so that she could look at him, unable to see his face in the dark.

He starred deep into her eyes loving the way they twinkled in the moon light. Her presents filled up the entire meadow with light and caused a soft smile to form on his lips at her beauty.

"I love you," he whispered, leaning his forehead against hers.

She smiled back at him with her eyes closed, and tilted her head up the slightest bit so that she could kiss his soft lips. He kissed her back so gently that she could cry; she loved how he always treated her with such love and care. There was so little of it on this island, but when she was with him it felt like paradise. When she was with him, nothing else mattered – nothing else could touch her, not even her father.

Then the kiss was broken, they only pulled back enough so that their foreheads were still in contact.

"I love you too," she whispered back.

They didn't go back to camp that night, they would deal with the consequences of their actions in the morning. But, tonight they didn't care what the price was – they were together, and that was all that mattered
