Doth Love Divine, A Prelude To He Who I Worship From Distances Untold

The face imprinted in my memory,

I dream of the day I sail to you,

As in heroes fit of the Odyssey,

Gifted by Orpheus,

A song of sorrow unto mine end,

Can I only dream of your love?

Becoming my center, for waves wash, coming only from you.

Is it so eccentric to dream such candid thoughts in my mind?

It's so easy for you to become my center,

Maybe then, I'll be complete.

Are you some quintessence, disguised as the tempter of my thoughts?

Or do you see me as the way I see you,

Over countless nights, and countless dreams,

My heart knows it all in vain, alas to be your prisoner,

But I would have no other keeper,

Rather to push thoughts incessant love away,

Aware it could never be,

But unable to consent when I know you see the stars,

Do they reflect in your eyes, too?

To leave me weep over the impossible,

I love from far away, the passion killing me softly,

A ghost in this enchanted castle,

A shadow to flit among my chains,

Kept in a wintry abode,

I long for the renewing spring,

No depths of ice can stop me,

An unspoken vow of love to you,

And I pray that you return it.
