In the dark night, in the biting cold harshness of the snow and wind of the tall mountain where life was scarce, one shadow flashed through the night with haste.
The shadow was a man known as Jiraiya and he seemed to be in a hurry as he flew through the harsh climate of the north and appeared at the peak of the mighty mountain.
"Huff, Huff" Jiraiya took heavy breaths that could be seen as steam because of the cold and looked towards his destination, a simple hut.
This hut seemed to be too simple that people should question how it survived up at the top but Jiraiya knew why and he knew it was special as he could feel the sharp edge of the sword around the area of the hut.
'He seemed to have improved since I last saw him. Good! Very Good!' Jiraiya thought with a fleeting smile as he winced in pain from the slight movement of his muscles.
Jiraiya walked towards the door without hesitation and did not conceal his presence so that the owner of the hut would know.
'As expected, he is sharp.' Jiraiya thought as he felt the area around him clear of snow and become calm but this calmness hid true danger which would be lethal to must beings.
"Stop, it's me." Jiraiya said in a confident tone, he was not afraid of such a move but he didn't wish for pointless conflict.
As his voice fell, the door opened and an old man walked out slowly using a cane which radiated sword Qi. The old man had bright smile on his face as he was seeing a friend after a long time but was confused as he saw a little bundle of energy in his hands.
"Did you take up kidnapping little babe's since we last met?" He muttered in a joking tone
"I wish that was true." Jiraiya replied in a serene tone as he looked down at the little child in his hands with many complex thoughts floating through his mind.
"I made hot spiritual tea from Mt. Yujing so let's talk inside."
The man shook his head, "I don't have time so please take care of Naruto until I return."
Before the old man could say anything, Jiraiya had disappeared while the baby had appeared inside the cottage along with a crib.
Jiraiya disappeared from Mifune's sight instantly showing the difference in power but once he had moved thousand miles he stopped mid air with a confused expression.
'Why did I bring him here?' He questioned and his young face had lost its calm features as he held his head
'Did the enemy affect my mind?' He contemplated and was about to go back when suddenly he stiffened and he shook his head, which caused his long white hair to cover his eyes.
'Where am I?' He thought and looked around to see that he was in the Land of Snow, near Mt. Shu.
'Why am I here?' Before he could take any more actions, Jiraiya disappeared through outside influence that gave him no chance to respond and he was teleported to some unknown place.
Looking at the event from an unknown location, inside an elegant but simple study, a man closed his eyes with a sigh.
A simple action but the consequence was extreme as the air vibrated with power and would have erased everything if the man was not in control. The world seemed to have lost its brilliance as he had closed his eyes and everything was returning to the cold embrace of death.
The man opened his eyes with a small smile on his lips and flipped the page of the book in his delicate hand as unknown thoughts passed through his mind.
While on Mt. Shu, Mifune looked at the fragile life in front of him with a neutral expression. Naruto moved his tiny arm's and looked at the old man with his bright blue eyes which twinkled with innocence.
Mifune observed the tiny life as it made noise and thought on what he should do now. Mifune was a strict person and he always made sure to do his best on his task so he decided to first check Naruto's body.
'Let's see if he has any special requirements.' Mifune thought as he placed his hand on Naruto's stomach causing the child to giggle. It seemed Naruto was already different from other children as he didn't seem to mind strangers.
Mifune directed his chakra through the child's body and looked down with deep concentration expecting to find something extraordinary about the child as he was brought by Jiraiya the Toad Sage.
'There must be something special…' Mifune thought before his thought direction stopped as he took back his hand with haste.
With sharp movement's he cut off his finger and burnt it to ash. Mifune looked towards Naruto with astonishment as he saw the remnants of death energy around him.
'How is he still alive?' Would be the most obvious question but Mifune was happy beyond reason as his eyes laid on Naruto like he was a treasure.
'If he can survive such an ordeal than he can never be ordinary but whose child is he.' Mifune thought as he wrote down simple instructions and list of items.
After Mifune Finished writing, he summoned a wolf with a thought.
The wolf was 2 m tall with sharp teeth and an intelligent demeanor. It didn't seem t be surprised and asked, "How may I be of assistance Master Mifune?"
"Take this scroll to Shun and bring back the items." Mifune replied in a calm manner and went back to Naruto while the wolf ran off. It was just one of many minor summon's from the Wolf clan as Mifune would never disturb his life time partner with minor chores.
Mifune concentrated on Naruto and decided to cancel out the death energy with life transfer, which was a technique that allowed for a person to give away their own life force. This technique was extremely hard to master and required good control as the life force could be lost in the transmission, along with many more restrictions.
'I don't have much to live so this should be a good way to spend that pointlessly large life force.' Mifune thought with a composed expression and sat down in a lotus position.
He was not a master of this technique so he had to be careful unless he wanted to overdose Naruto, which would make him explode. Mifune went through some signs in blinding speed which caused his chakra to resonate and take the form of a green wolf that was 1 m tall.
The wolf roared and jumped at Naruto, which caused it to become smaller as it interacted with the death energy but it eventually canceled it out and a small hand ball sized wolf dove inside the tiny Naruto's heart.
"Hehehe" The tiny sunshine giggled in delight as the energy covered him in a warm embrace while Mifune looked at the sight without any change in expression and beads of sweat from his forehead.
No one would be able to see that he had lost 200 years worth of life force as he was still young in the eyes of cultivators; he had barely passed his 100th year.
Mifune took a breath to stabilize his life force and stood up as the sweat evaporated with a thought. He walked towards Naruto while chakra flowed through his eyes in a mysterious manner, which activated a skill that Mifune used quite a lot.
Predator's vision was the skill's name and its function was to find weak spots in the target, it could peer through the body and look deep inside to the smallest quarks.
Mifune was like wolf on the hunt when he looked at Naruto which caused Naruto to stare at him. Mifune was used to killing when he used this technique and this seems to be projected towards Naruto, and caused Naruto to cry in fright.
Mifune was not used to such scenes and looked on calmly as he cancelled the technique, 'All clear, there doesn't seem to be any problems.'
He thought while touching his long beard and said in a commanding tone, "Sleep." With just mere words the little child fell asleep as these words contained the immense and mysterious powers of chakra that controlled the senses of its victims.
This was one of the basics of the illusion arts and was not a complex technique even for Mifune who was not elite in the field.
Mifune felt better once the noise was gone, he was used to solitude and preferred the quietness so the presence of the child did annoy him slightly.
'I should probably find a caretaker.' Mifune contemplated as he looked at the baby and thought of any one that could help him in such an endeavor.
He walked around the simple hut and sat down on the humble bed, above which was a bow stuck to the ceiling and some swords along with knives stuck to the wall on the side of the bed which radiated sharp sword energy that showed extensive usage of these weapons by Mifune.
'Zabuza, I don't think he can help. Shun, Shun should be able to help. He has kids of his own.' Mifune finalized his thought process and planned to meet with his friend for advice and for babysitting.
Mifune placed his hand on his cheek when he realized that one of his fingers was missing and so he momentarily stopped his training, which caused his regeneration to stop and make him similar to normal people.
It was one of the body arts that he practiced for 5 decades to get to the level where he could regrow limbs within nano seconds but it seems he had reached a limit as he could go no deeper.
The Art was one of the treasures of the old age, known as the Undying Hunter. Mifune was quite compatible with this art but he didn't satisfy the talent requirements and the body requirement. He could have shared it with other people, especially clans like Uzumaki or Senju but they already had similar skills and he didn't really want to share his skill.
He had to make it stop as it operated automatically to train his body to become stronger and train his mind set to avoid becoming like those people who become arrogant enough to stop dodging even when possible.
'Will this child be able to show me the pinnacle of this art before my death?' Mifune wondered as he looked at Naruto.
'From this day, you can be known as Naruto Edogawa. Jiraiya didn't provide the family name so you can continue my name.' Mifune flashed a rare smile at the thought, which disappeared as quickly as it came.
Several miles away from Mt. Shu and the forest beneath, lay a city with tall walls around it. The city was known as Edogawa in honor of Mifune's service to the country. It was of the smaller cities and lay at the edge of the territory and the clans were not usually present in this area unless it was an outing or a short stay.
Even though it was far from other cities, Edogawa was up to date with most technology and there was no problem getting information since the nations had come to a fragile peace, which allowed for technology to flourish and data was not blocked by outside influences.
In one of the well of areas of Edogawa was situated a mansion that stood out in design amongst its pears. With one look, a person would be able to tell that the owner was loaded.
Inside the garden of the mansion, a man was sitting along with a little child and reading a book to her in a careful manner. A hot cup of tea was on the table while he read the words to impart knowledge on to his child.
Each word seemed to resonate with the world, which implied the usage of chakra and the impartation of higher knowledge. Most households with powerful beings would take part in such activities to help their new generation as it helped with their cultivation and strengthened their foundation.
"What does Sir Mifune require?" The middle aged man muttered in a kind manner as he smiled at his little girl who was excited to see the wolf.
"Master requires your assistance." The wolf said and presented the slip; with the task done he disappeared.
The man was known as Shun Mishima and he was a well known business man in the country, which is why Mifune didn't mind associating with him.
"Hmm, that's rare. And are these items for a baby?" Shun was amused as he saw the list and was expecting interesting events to take place if he was right in his assumption.
"Papa, what does Grandpa Mifune want?" The little child held Shun's jacket and asked in curious tone
"Nothing much my little star, he just wants help taking of a baby."
"Can I see the baby?" She asked as she looked Shun with those sparkly eyes
"Of course and finally you can be the big sister." Shun replied as he patted her tiny little head and she giggled in delight.
Shun looked towards the location of Mt. Shu as snow fell like usual in the garden except the place where he stood as it evaporated by coming in contact with his aura.
The next day Shun arrived outside Mifune's hut in simple clothing as he walked on air and stopped outside the door. Before he could do anything, Mifune appeared outside as the door opened automatically.
Mifune thrust Naruto at Shun as the child was crying without sign of stopping. Shun looked at the child and received him, he realized was hungry.
"He didn't accept the milk I was providing him from the Sky Bison." Mifune said as he expected a question about why he hadn't fed the child.
Shun nodded and looked at the child curiously. Naruto looked back in a similar manner and stopped crying, he giggled like he had seen an amusing scene.
Shun was confused as to why the child was acting like that and looked between Mifune and himself.
'Could it be because of Mifune's harsh expression and aura?' Shun thought and gave Naruto the milk of the Demonic Ox, which was a Level 2 being so the milk was expensive stuff and very useful for strengthening the body.
Naruto didn't deny him and opened his mouth as he suckled on the milk with vigor and his deep blue eyes sparkled with happiness, and his smooth cheeks puffed up. Mifune watched this scene unperturbed and said in calm manner, "Shun from now on have someone take Naruto to your place in the afternoon and return him by evening. You may do what you see as appropriate and keep him from harm at all costs."
"Relax friend, I will do as you wish. I don't mind taking care of the child as he is very cute little thing and my daughter will love him." Shun replied with a smile and patted Naruto's head with delicate gesture while not asking for any other details as it was not his place to ask for such personal details.
Shun with his delicate features barely looked older than 20, his looks could only be identified as extremely attractive. His light blue hair and eyes, which should represent the cold north was filled with warmth and he looked like a father with his son. But more than that, Mifune trusted Shun as he was resourceful and powerful.
Mifune was a logical man so he could see that making Naruto go with Shun was the best choice as he couldn't always be with the child.
"I appreciate your assistance and in return I will train your daughter." Mifune said matter-of-factly as he was not a stingy person that took advantage of others and gave nothing back. It would go against his pride as a warrior.
Shun was overjoyed at the news, his daughter was the most important thing to him and he was willing to do anything to make her strong. He knew the world was dangerous and nothing stayed the same, even this peaceful life could end in a single moment.
Shun had asked and begged before but Mifune had never budged once but now just for an unknown child his desire had been accepted.
'A luck bringer that's what this child is. Let us see if it can continue.' Shun thought as he smiled widely as he could tell Mifune was telling the truth since no one could lie to him because of his natural ability which he gained once he entered the first stage of cultivation.
Mifune watched Shun take Naruto to his residence with an immovable gaze, he had already dealt today's morning session for Naruto. He had poured in his chakra through his body in a controlled manner and even let the child interact with his sword aura and heart to help him develop from the beginning.
This would make it so that Naruto would be able to grasp these abilities at a faster pace and be stronger than what he should be capable of without help. This was the advantage of people with strong backing and especially those who had people on Mifune's level as this step requires such level of power or else the mortal being can be damaged or even erased by the unstable power.
'Such innocence, I wish that these hands of mine do not corrupt it.' Mifune thought as his gaze flickered with sadness and returned to the emotional stare within a moment, making it seem like an illusion.
Who would ever believe that the Blood Drenched Hunter could ever feel sadness?
Mifune walked outside his hut and towards the peak of the mountain as he left clear footprints which remained even in the constant snowfall as each step radiated sword aura. This sharp aura cut anything that interacted with it and even though Mifune had not utilized his chakra, his level of sword mastery had made it so that it was natural as breathing.
"My Master will pay you a visit in 14 years old man. Don't go soft on us." A strange voice spoke from above and as Mifune looked, he saw the figure.
It was not human but a Griffin and Mifune could recognize what it was and who its master was. Mifune closed his eyes as he had already resigned himself to this fate and he always expected his past to catch up to him.
"Why don't you attack me again like last time or has the mutt shown his true colors." The Griffin spoke in a condescending tone with deep hatred hidden within his eyes. The beast flapped its wings slightly causing a windstorm to ensue and clearing the snow of the mountain, if the mountain was normal it might have already collapsed from the slight release of its power.
"I know what I have done and I am willing to take responsibility so tell the boy that I will be waiting for him." Mifune responded in a calm manner and walked straight ahead towards his destination.
The griffin looked at Mifune with a perplexed expression which would not be clear to humans unless they were close to animals.
'He seems different, somehow remorseful.'
'Does he regret his actions?'
'But it matters not, he shall pay his debt.' The Griffin contained its power and flew away from whence it came.
"Why didn't you maim the stupid bird, Mifune?" A powerful voice reverberated in the night at the peak of the mountain.
"I did not wish to give away knowledge to my future foe, Engora. I may regret the past but it does not mean that I will commit suicide." Mifune responded as he sat down on a boulder that was shaped like a square, with smooth edges. It radiated sword energy which resonated with Mifune as he sat there and meditated.
The giant wolf, which had gray fur and two horns that curved backwards, stood few meters away and stared at Mifune.
Engora gave a snort and laughed, "Hahahaha!"
"Ha..." Engora stopped suddenly and reduced the distance between them, his nose almost touching Mifune.
He spoke in an aggressive tone, "Do you take me for a fool? You have changed but still continue to hide from me."
"Do you think I will think you weak, if you said that you have changed?"
Mifune opened his eyes and stared into those silver eyes filled with anger and indignance along with a hint of betrayal. He felt pained seeing such emotions in his best friend.
"I just needed some time and didn't think you would be interested in my emotional problems."
"I saw you change and get hurt. It annoys me and it angers me so next times do not keep it inside. I am your partner remember that." Engora said as his voice softened, he had been angered by something and it had transferred to this issue.
"I will remember to do that. Now, what has angered you this time?" Mifune muttered with a small smile as his touched the head of Engora.
"It's that bastard yeti again. I was resting in peace when I was found myself inside a cocoon and sticking to a tree."
"That's not even the worst, the scum actually made a video of me doing a stupid dance along with eating my treasured Dragon fruit and sent it to the others." Engora managed through clenched teeth as he huffed in rage with each word.
Mifune nodded as he understood and was glad that Engora wasn't hurt, "Don't worry, I will talk to Korikaku."
While the two were talking about Korikaku, the person himself was looking down curiously at Naruto. Shun had left Naruto in a room for a few minutes during which the yeti had walked inside the room like he owned the place with an apple in his hand.
The yeti had white fur and it had dreadlocks which had sharp ends that could be used to fight. Its body radiated pure power which was barely held back but it showed no aggressive behavior but a cunning light shown within its eyes.
'A human baby, the child Jiraiya brought.'
'I hope you can be fun like him and we can friends.' Korikaku smiled widely as he touched Naruto's cheek and caused him to giggle uncontrollably.
'Definitely different, others would have cried.' Korikaku mused as he picked up the baby and floated in the air as he stuck Naruto on the ceiling upside down.
Korikaku snickered as he placed his hand on Naruto's face and a mask formed onto his head, covering his face.
'Now you look handsome, when you get older thank me for letting you borrow my face.' Korikaku sent the thought to Naruto as he walked out the window and disappeared into the distance to disturb some other poor fool, who was unlucky enough to be chosen.
Mana Mishima the dotted daughter of Shun ran through the mansion as she sped towards Naruto's room, her long pink hair trailing behind her and her red eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Young Miss be careful" A servant called out in alarm as Mana took a turn to the right and was about to collide with another servant. Mana pushed to the side with her left foot and carried on towards her goal leaving cracked tiles in her wake.
The servant was horrified as he had almost been run over by the small hurricane, his legs went soft and he fell to the ground.
"Relax, nothing would have happened. I am watching over you." The older servant placed his hand on the newbie as he watched the young miss go while shaking his head at her carelessness.
'Hopefully that was the only damage she did, I really don't want to meet master if she actually broke one of the precious pieces while I was onsite.'
Mana didn't stop until she arrived outside the door and took a breath as the wind created from her speed rushed past her and fluttered her white one piece dress.
Mana adjusted her looks and with a smiling face entered hoping to see an adorable baby but reality was horrendous as she stared at the horrifying creature of her nightmares staring at her while sticking to the ceiling.
Mana couldn't stop her body from shaking in fear and her body seemed to be stuck in place from the primordial fear.
Naruto watched the new comer with curiosity and found Mana's aura to be attractive so he started moving. He had watched Korikaku move and the mask recorded the movements, helping him move like the beast.
Within a moment Naruto had crawled to Mana on four's and caused her to fall down as he looked down at her.
"Gagaga (Baby talk)"
Mana could not understand what was happening except that her nightmare was staring down at her so she did what anyone logically would," PAPA"
Mana screamed as she kicked Naruto but a barrier stopped the kick and immobilized her, which caused Mana to further panic.
Mana started crying hopelessly and Naruto couldn't to babble when Shun appeared with a worried expression.
Shun calmed himself and wore a kind smile, "Master Korikaku, would you please let my daughter go?"
Shun asked in a gentlemanly manner while Naruto looked at him in confusion, "Gagaga"
Shun eye almost twitched in annoyance at the nonsense that Korikaku was speaking, 'Why me?'
Mana calmed down as energy surrounded her and flowed through her body, the pink chakra was giving off a unique aura signifying an ability that was unique to the user.
As her the energy dispersed, Mana looked at Naruto with those red eyes and finally she seemed to have glimpsed through the mask.
"It's a baby." Mana spoke out loud unconsciously
"What?" Shun questioned and looked carefully at Naruto.
Shun decided to trust his daughter and tried to undo the illusion with a chakra wave but nothing changed.
Shun gulped audibly as his attempt failed and looked at Naruto with a apologetic expression, which caused the baby to giggle uncontrollably. The scene was horrifying for Shun while Mana was smiling happily as she looked at Naruto.
