Date Night (Jaya Oneshot):

"Jay? Can I open my eyes now?" Nya asked, hand grabbing the blindfold that had been tied over her eyes.

Jay grabbed her hand, pulling it away from the blindfold. "Not yet. I'm almost ready." The truth was, he was nowhere near the level of preparedness he had hoped to achieve, but he would never let himself admit that. Especially not to Nya. If it was ever going to make up for their ruined date at Mega Monster Amusement Park, today had to be perfect.

And everything was . . . almost. The Bounty's dining room table had been covered by a red tablecloth, blue stripes running down the edges. A trio of candles stood at the center, lighting the otherwise dark room. A variety of foods, cooked by Zane, surrounded the candles. The only thing missing was the dessert, and Zane was supposed to be working on baking it back in the kitchen. Jay smiled. This would be a night to remember.

The ninja of lightning gently held Nya's hand, leading her over to the table. When they had moved closer to the table Jay removed the blindfold. "You can look now." He whispered.

She took his hand in hers, blue eyes full of admiration. "You did all this . . . for me?" She wrapped her other arm around him in a tight hug.

Jay nodded, blushing and hugging her back. "Do you- do you like it?"

Nya laughed. "I'm with you. How could I not?" The two stood there, arms wrapped around the other, enjoying the simple peace of the moment.

The silence was broken abruptly when Kai came on the Bounty's intercom system. "Hey lovebirds! Are you just going to stand there all night, glued to each other, or are you going to actually sit down and eat the dang meal? Zane said to tell you he'll be very upset if the hours of hard work he puts into his cooking go to waste . . . he also says Cole keeps moving closer to the- I thought we already went over this- HANDS OFF! The cake is not yours!"

Jay and Nya laughed, finally sitting down to eat. "What would we ever do without him?" Nya asked.

"Aside from never seeing cake again?" Jay wondered.

The door opened and Kai walked into the room, "Your dessert has been saved!" He moved closer, looking around as if he didn't want to be overheard, "I tied Cole to the mast. You might want to avoid him for the next few weeks, although he might leave you alone if you give him some cake."
