Meeting again

Kim and Ron meet for an unpleasant anniversary.

The sky was dark with clouds it would rain soon. He limped over to stand on her left. She didn't need to look, she knew who it was.

"Hi." Ron said softy.
"Hi" Kim replied quietly.

Ron looked at Kim completely dressed in black, only her face showing. Ron could see in his mind under the clothes to the scars that covered most of her body. There was a spark of life in her eyes that he had not seen in years. Ron returned to look at the ground before them.

"So how have you been?" Ron finally asked after a few minutes.
"OK. I'm seeing a guy. He's…. He's nice."
"I'm seeing someone, too. She has issues but we're working it out."

Kim looked over to Ron. His black suit looked odd having no left arm. The lotus blade was in the form of his cane
due to the condition of Ron's right leg. Ron didn't have the blank dead look on his face like the years before. Kim returned her gaze and thoughts to the stone.

It was a trap, but Kim and Ron had to go, there was no way they couldn't. There was only one way in. Kim and Ron cut through the Synthodrones to the main chamber where Shego waited. As Kim fought Shego, Ron sliced his way over to free Jon. Shego couldn't win so she triggered the self-destruct and fled just before the doors slammed closed. Kim grabbed Jon as Ron cut them an exit path. The thick steel doors and remaining Synthodrones couldn't stop them just slow them down. Then 50 feet from the exit the explosion hit. Kim was hit by the blast and Ron was half buried under rocks, but both were alive when help dug them out. Ron's left arm and right leg were crushed, the rest of his body battered. The doctors could save the leg but not the arm. Kim body was covered in gruesome burns.

Recovery was long and painful but an inner strength drove Kim and Ron. Months of healing followed by training returned them to a fighting condition the doctors never thought would happen. Global Justice and Wade kept track of Shego but eventual she disappeared into the underworld. When Kim and Ron were ready the search restarted but this time Shego would be found. Questions were asked, Bones broken, and answers screamed. When Kim and Ron got to close Shego would flee to another hiding spot. Soon there was no place left to run.

Shego's screams and pleas did nothing to help fill the hole in Kim and Ron's souls. After Shego was dead they returned home, only to have their hate turn on each other. The divorce was quick. Kim and Ron each took a few belongings from the house they wanted to keep. Afterwards Ron poured the gasoline and Kim lit the match. They stood by the street and watched the house burn.

"It still hurts…"
"Not as much as it did…"
"…Yeah"

The minutes tick by as a light rain begins to fall.

"Do you think we could be friends again?"
"I'd like that."

Ron hooks his cane to his belt and holds his hand out to Kim. She takes his offered hand in hers squeezing tightly. A few more minutes pass then they each turn and go their separate ways from the gravestone.

Author's Note: Argh! Again I get an evil idea and no idea how it got there. The story could be expanded out into more detail but I think the short version is better. That gives the reader more to imagine. Please leave a review, good or bad.
