Adric was bored. Well, bored was a gross understatement. Adric would much rather be back on Alzarius than sitting in his room on the TARDIS waiting for Tegan, Nyssa, and the Doctor to finish getting things for the girls. Really how much did they need? It seemed like they'd been gone for hours, and for all he knew they could have been. There was no clock on the TARDIS; after all traveling through time makes a clock worthless. Adric had already read all the math books the Doctor could find on the TARDIS. There were probably more, but the Doctor never had the time to look, and if he did it would be highly unlikely that anyone could possibly search the whole TARDIS.
Adric sighed. Sitting around wouldn't help his boredom. By now Adric had memorized the way to the console room from his own room. However, that wasn't Adric's destination. He was working his way to the library from memory as best he could. He had only been there once and the Doctor was leading the way. Adric had no idea how long he walked, but he eventually found the room he was searching for. As soon as he opened the door he was bombarded with the comforting scent of old leather. His eyes scanned the titles of volumes he had never heard of before, some in languages he had never seen. The library seemed to go on forever, with no apparent form of organization. The Doctor told Adric that the Dewey Decimal system doesn't work with books from other planets. Adric knew where he was going though. In the center of this vast maze was a single old chair. One that had probably been in the same place for ages, and one that when you sit on it a cloud of dust would rise around you. After ten minutes of searching Adric found the chair. He didn't know why he would come here to think. He could think perfectly well in his own room. Adric leaned his head back and closed his eyes. He inhaled the scent of leather and the scent of his Doctor. No, the Doctor wasn't his. He belonged to the universe and to time. No matter how much Adric longed for the Doctor to be his, he knew he never would be.
Adric's eyes shot open. The sound of footsteps had roused him from his thoughts. The person who was invading his mind stood before him. This person, alien, whatever who called himself Doctor was the most magnificent being Adric had ever laid eyes on. Adric watched closely as the Doctor ran a hand through his blonde hair. He seemed to be in intense thought. Before Adric knew what was happening he felt soft lips on his own. As suddenly as it started, it stopped. The Doctor backed away.
"We're leaving soon." Was all he could muster up to say.
Adric could only nod in response. He had never been kissed before. He didn't know what it was supposed to be like. But all Adric knew was that he wanted the Doctor in his arms with his soft lips against his own.
After twenty minutes Adric was in the console room. Tegan was complaining as usual and Nyssa was ignoring it. No one had seen or heard him enter. Adric walked right up behind the Doctor. He tapped the Doctor on the shoulder. As soon as he was face to face with Adric, the boy surprised all by pulling the Doctor to him and kissing him fiercely. Nyssa smiled, a sort of knowing smile. She expected this for some time. For once only a gasp from Tegan was heard, but Adric didn't care. He had his Doctor.
