Tangled One-Shot
The kingdom of Corona was buzzing with a mixture of anticipation and excitement for the upcoming wedding of Princess Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert, which is taking place in two weeks. Well most were excited. Others were wary over having Eugene/AKA Flynn Rider become the future king of Corona. But he claimed to have put away his thieving ways after finding true love with Rapunzel.
11:00 at night in the castle
Everyone was fast asleep in his or her beds, except for the guards who were on their daily night patrol, who always seem to go past Eugene's room more than usual, and for Eugene himself. This was a nightly process for him. He has difficulty falling asleep without the love of his life in his arms.
"I can't keep doing this anymore."
"My constant fatigue is starting to affect my smolder."
Eugene then made the decision to stop the restless nights and just go to Rapunzel's room to sleep.
"Yep, I'll just go to Blondie's room and catch some shut-eye."
Eugene got up off the bed and walked outside onto his balcony. Rapunzel's room was the floor below his, two doors to the left. He couldn't walk there normally because of the guards. Time to put those thieving skills to the test, thought Eugene.
"This shouldn't be too bad. I'll just jump down to the balcony below mine, then jump across and climb to get to Rapunzel's balcony."
What he didn't know was that Rapunzel's parent's room and balcony were right below his. Eugene proceeded to jump off the balcony and land onto the one below his only to come face to face with the King of Corona himself.
"Uh, Whoa! Your majesty! I- uh- was just- um…." Eugene stuttered.
The king smirked at Eugene and said, "You wouldn't be off to Rapunzel's room, would you son?"
"No! I'm not, um, look I know this looks really bad but-"
"Relax my boy I remember what it was like to be young and in love. Just be careful jumping around, you wouldn't want to get hurt or break something. The next time you get your portrait taken they really will have not gotten your nose right," the king joked heading back in his room.
Well that was unexpected thought Eugene.
"Well time to carry on."
He had no problem getting to Rapunzel's balcony; the problem was getting in her room.
"Blondie open up!" Eugene shouted as he knocked on the door.
Silence…."Well now what?"
All of a sudden the door opened and out came a very disheveled Rapunzel crazily swinging her frying pan around.
"Who is out here? Is it ruffians? Thugs? Have you come for me? Well you can't have- Eugene!"
Eugene was sprawled out on the ground with a dazed look on his face. Rapunzel immediately dropped her frying pan and knelt to him.
"Eugene what are you doing out here?"
"I've been having trouble sleeping these past few weeks without you, and I know its not proper for us to share a room until after the wedding, but the constant tiredness was getting to me, it affected my smolder! Not as effective anymore."
"It never was effective," mumbled Rapunzel.
"Well I suppose you can sleep in here tonight, I'm sorry I hit you with my frying pan."
"Hey, I'm just happy you can defend yourself if someone attempts to break in here," said Eugene.
"How did you get here anyway?" Rapunzel questioned as they both walked into her room?
"Eh I just jumped down from my balcony, to the one below mine and then jumped across to get to yours."
"Eugene! My parent's room is right below yours they could have seen you!
"Not to worry, your dad is a pretty cool guy. He saw me and let me continue on because he remembered what it was like to be young and in love.
"Well after all that trouble, by all means lie down," Rapunzel said.
"Don't mind if I do. Goodnight Blondie." Eugene yawned as he crawled into bed.
"Goodnight Eugene," replied Rapunzel as she snuggled up to him.
