It's this time again. But it's worth the wait.
Sometimes she wondered why it went on and on. First the Cogs capture an unsuspecting shopkeeper, keep them there until their own kind came around and rescued them. And an extra thing: the winners watched as the big guy fell to his demise, just like the three others. It's a cycle that never ended, and it was beyond her control. She never understood why it went that way all the time.
Clerk Clara wasn't that fooled, though. She was completely aware of such a time loop, where as much as time progressed, the things that happen didn't and instead repeated themselves. She knew, and her secret lover did as well, that the circumstances were inevitable. They had to ride through it.
After watching the enormous piece of metal fall backwards from the pelting of whole cream pies she supplied to the Toons, the cage lowered to the ground, allowing her to walk out. Then Clara said her goodbyes and gratitude to the last rescuing Toon that teleported away. Of course, she wanted to stay for a while. She wanted to check if he was alright. After all, they had done this for years. Clara was used to the capturing and the encouraging of the Toons to fight for her freedom. The one she loved was used to the falling and the constant spamming of cream pies.
So she walked near the edge of the cliff, and waited. If she went even closer, it was sure that she could lose her balance and fall over.
Eventually, a black rabbit climbed up to launch pad of an iron cliff. Once he had his complete form on the surface, he collapsed like a pancake and gasped for air for a while.
"Whew, what a fall!"
Clara giggled. "It's a good thing you knew what to do so you didn't get hurt! You know, like the first time..."
The rabbit got closer to her. "Yeah, I remember that. Good times, hm?"
She nodded before nuzzling her nose against his.
