With a look of shock, the team finished and started shift with clouded minds. Grissom was leaving and to grave their world was crashing down.
As Greg flashed back to the moment his world blew up it was both crystal clear and Seattle hazy.
FLASHBACK:
Catherine: "Is that all?"
Grissom: "No. I'm a….I'm leaving CSI."
Nick: "Well Grissom has finally cracked."
END FLASHBACK
After the split second of light hearted hope the Seattle haze settled over Greg's mind. Things hadn't been right in a long time and as he thought back he began to wonder if things were ever right.
Much to her surprise Riley also found her world flipped upside down. Although her time with the team had just begun she too began to wonder on the history of this family.
As Nick though long and hard on this surprising event, question after question began to pile up. Time after time he could remember each milestone of their past. To him the only thing out of place was a future without Gil Grissom. Sure Sara left. Ya, Warrick was gone. But he was still there. And the longer he thought he realize Grissom was the one that always held everything together. And no matter how hard Nick tried he couldn't imagine a world without him. It was at that moment when the same question that haunted Greg began to haunt Nick. And he realized how quickly his world was about to change.
The Question at the forefront of Catherine's mind was…. Actually there was no question. Instead she found her mind racing in at least ten different directions. The task of Supervisor. The new team member. The rest of the team. Among others. What she did take time to notice was that these were questions. Perhaps just questions she didn't know or want to know the answers to. Unlike the majority of her team she knew where things were going. She knew her world was about to become completely HER world.
Jim Brass found himself avoiding all work today. Which was very odd. Instead he sat in him office drinking scotch and staring at a picture. A picture that in his mind was one of the best times he could remember. He moved from one face to another as he looked at the CSI team from nine years ago. Face after face memories were brought about. Some a little foggy due to the scotch. But one face that had him puzzled was Sara's. While memories were there he began to remember the change in Gil the minute she walked in. Gil Grissom was never one to give up his control. Jim began to laugh as he realized that when it came to Sara, Gilbert Grissom had no choice.
Doc Robbins wasn't one to complain or be angry much. But today he found himself in a rather sour mood. He knew why and hoped that it would soon pass.
Today was slow in the lab. So when all the techs found themselves in the break room not a single word was shared as everyone knew what was silently being said. To Wendy it was almost like mourning a death but with the unknown future ahead.
Unlike everyone else Gil Grissom's mind was finally at ease. While he was concerned about the future of the lab he was much too preoccupied with his future. With her. The only task left was to clear his office."That" he thought "Will take a while". He began to laugh as his phone rang.
