Tears slid down my face as he hugged me, "I have to go Katara" he whispered brushing
my hair back into place behind my ears, "the ship will come looking for me if I don't go"
I tried hold back the tears I so desperately wanted to cry, Zuko lifted my chin, "hey
Katara, sweetie we'll be together someday. When the war is over and everything's good
again, meanwhile I have to go back or my father is going to come and get me and I can't
have him hurt you. If you go hurt I wouldn't know what to do with my self" I moved
closer to him closing the gap that separated us Zuko put his arms around me, my hair
blew in the wind as he held me close I cried silently I couldn't bear to let him. I knew
why he had to go someone had to be fire lord and he was the first born, Azula wasn't
anymore, she had been captured by earth benders and set in a prison so it was Zuko's
responsibility to take the position. "Katara it's time for us to let go" he whispered keeping
his voice calm and pleasant I let my arms fall, he smiled I thought I saw tears in his eyes,
he swallowed, "I am going to miss you" Zuko said I choked back all of what I was
feeling, "don't leave" I cried, Zuko took in a breath of air, "Katara you this really hard to
do" I smiled "I thought that's what I was very hard" Zuko kissed me lightly on my lips I
deepened it, he picked me up and held me as we kissed. Zuko licked my bottom lip
begging me to open I gladly did, the kiss soon became a rough pressing of lips as we tried
to savor each other. Finally as all things do it ended, Zuko touched my hand I felt
something drop as he let go, I looked down to see a fire nation necklace, "in the fire
nation it means betrothal he helped me fasten it I smiled touching the pendant in the
setting sun it seemed to glow Zuko smiled and started to walk away, I smiled down at the
necklace, Zuko kissed my cheek as I watched him step into the light of the dock and into
the boat that would take him home to the fire nation, I smiled as the boat rowed away
waving I sighed. He was gone now, I looked down at the pendant, but I was betrothed to
a prince tucking it in I went back to where the others were.
