I knew he would come back.
After seven years of waiting, I knew that the boy who played my song would come back to the ranch. I needed him to, for I did not want to be a steed to a beast of the evil one. I needed to be ridden by a Hero, as I knew he was.
Malon would coo and smile to me, telling me that he would return to the ranch someday. That he would know what to do with Ingo and his ways. I did not want to be a mare of evil, a creature that would have to carry a beast of no soul or pride.
I hadn't been ridden during the seven years of wait. Malon tried, but I was a stubborn foal and would just wait till she would get off me. Ingo tried and I wasn't as kind to him, kicking him off me if he even tried to get in the saddle. I was wild; I had a mind of my own. Even a lash from a whip would not break my spirit.
And then he came. The one that I wanted to be my rider, the one who everyone had waited for. I felt at home when he was in the saddle and I couldn't help but whinny in joy. I wanted so passionately to speak, but I knew that he wouldn't understand me.
His adventures took him everywhere and I helped him to these places. Though I felt like I could do more, I didn't have much to offer except a speedy ride to his destinations. I waited for him, days on end at times, just grazing. I would wait for my song and I would happily go to him.
He went back in time and almost everyone forgot. But I didn't. I never forgot. I knew that I would always be with him, no matter which life he chose. Even when his soul went on to a new body, I would follow him everywhere. I knew that he and I were meant to save the world.
Together.
Very short One Shot. Needed it to get out of a small writers block for my main Fan Fiction. I assumed that Epona got reincarnated like Link, for she is in many of the Zelda games (that I have played). She is a smart horse and I would guess that in OoT she would have remembered everything once he went back in time after defeating Ganon. Please Critique!
