"Edward!" The scream from Roy brought Edward out of sleep and he wondered vaguely if it was really a scream that had awoke him. Then he heard it again. "Edward!!" The boy immediatly jumped out of bed, hearing the distress in his lover's voice. Roy almost never sounded like that, unless something was very wrong and it worried Ed that he sounded like that now.
He ran down the hall toward where he believed the scream had originated. He was outside the bathroom when he heard Roy again. "Ed, I swear if you don't get your ass in here you'll be sleeping on the floor for a week!"
Edward gulped at the threat and quickly swung open the bathroom door to reveal Roy standing in the far corner dripping wet and covered only by the towel around his waist.
"You know," Ed started "that really doesn't make me want to help you." He smiled at the older man who just rolled his eyes in frustration.
"Can you just kill the damn thing already?" Roy asked looking down at the ground to identify exactly what he had wanted the boy to kill. Ed looked down to see a small grass spider crawling around on the bathroom floor. He laughed a little. "Thats what you're so scared of?"
Roy crossed his arms, annoyed that the boy was questioning his fears when some of the latter's weren't so rational either. "Yes, Ed, thats what I'm scared of." The spider crawled toward Roy a little and the Colonel squeeked in surprise. "Now kill it, its crawling toward me!"
Ed smiled at the thought of The Flame Alchemist, Hero of Ishbal, cowering away from a mere spider. "You know, it won't hurt you." He bent over and let the arachnid crawl onto his metal hand.
"Like hell it won't! The thing attacked me while I was in the shower!" Roy pointed an accusing finger at the spider in Ed's hand.
Ed's smile widened "We can't have that can we? Thats my job."
The Colonel rolled his eyes at the comment "Just kill it. Thats an order."
"You can't order me around outside of work. Besides, the harmless thing did nothing to warrant death."
"Like hell it didn't. Ed, please just kill it." Roy looked at the boy and tried to pull off his best sad face.
"Thats not going to work." Ed smiled. "Here." the blonde reached out and took Roy's wrist in his hand and reaching the other over to put the spider into the man's hand. Roy flinched away, but Ed kept a firm grip on his hand. The spider crawled up Roy's arm and started down his chest.
The Colonel laughed a little and so did Ed. "See, it won't hurt you."
"I guess you're right." Roy stepped forward a little. The spider was crawling down his chest and stomach, headed straight for Roy's groin.
Edward frowned and hit Roy hard in the stomach, killing the spider. The older man doubled over on the floor. "What the hell was that for?!"
Ed angrily responded with "It was headed for my property and there are no trespassers that survive. Besides I killed the stupid spider for you." With that Ed turned and marched proudly out of the bathroom.
Roy was left smiling at Edward's strange logic that he was sure he would never fully understand.
