A/N: I've loved Sky High since it first came out. It's about time I got around to writing something! I hope you all enjoy. Reviews are appreciated!

Disclaimer: I do not, nor will I ever, own Sky High or any of its characters. I do, however, own Lydia, The Ferocious Feline/Ingrid, Sebastian, Agent Marcus and Agent Lou. Kaitlyn belongs to RimaHonamori.

At two in the morning, most working men were asleep in bed. They had arrived home earlier that evening, glad that the stressful day had finally come to an end. As soon as they'd walk in the door, their shoes would come off and their ties would hang loosely around their neck. Their wives would scuttle over and kisses would be received on both ends, followed by a nice meal and a good night's sleep.

Being a member of such working class, Sebastian thought that this was a pretty accurate description. It was for him, anyway, and at the moment, that's all that mattered.

Tonight, however, was different. He was not cuddled beneath warm sheets; instead, he was sitting in a chilled hospital waiting room. His dark hair stuck up in tufts that went in all directions, and his eyes held dark circles beneath their green hue. His apparel for this early morning consisted of an old t-shirt, stained with coffee spills, and his fleece sleeping pants. The heels of his hands found their way to his eyes every five minutes for a long rubbing as he was trying to keep his find clear.

Was this how all fathers-to-be acted?

He slumped back in his chair, tired and anxious all at the same time. He was too groggy to get up and pace, so he tapped is feet obnoxiously against the tile floor instead. He was anxious to meet his child.

A deep exhale left Sebastian's lips, his body relaxing just a bit. Just as he shut his eyes, he was stirred once more.

"Mr. Van Allen."

That deep, familiar voice brought him to his feet at once. Sebastian turned his head to see a familiar dark head of hair and black suit walking towards him.

"A-Agent Marcus… I'm taking it you're here for the same reason?"

The agent stopped before the weary father-to-be, arms formally behind his back and posture erect as could be. "Great guess, Van Allen. But my presence has a bit more important meaning than yours."

Sebastian's brow furrowed. "I don't see how you're more important than the father."

"I am when I hold that child's fate in the palm of my hands." He watched as the new dad's eyes drifted to the floor and his figure deflated a bit.

"You don't even know if it will be a super… Give it a rest…"

The agent gave a sarcastic chuckle. "You're right, Sebastian. We don't know. But if it is, I'm supposed to be here to ensure that our hypothesis was correct."

Sebastian bit the inside of his cheek, tapping his thighs nervously. "You… You aren't taking it, are you?"

Marcus sighed. "No. Not yet, anyway." The other's eyes flashed up. "We'll be watching the child's growth. If things turn negative, then we will remove the child from you and Ingrid's care. These are government regulations, not mine. Hell, if it was up to me, we'd take her now. But they're willing to give her a chance."

He wasn't happy about it, but Sebastian nodded his silent agreement. He couldn't go against such forces.

The men's conversation was interrupted by a young nurse. "Mr. Van Allen?"

Sebastian immediately looked up. "Yes?"

She smiled gently. "Come meet your baby girl."
