A/N: Tales happens to be one of the best games, making this a perfect opportunity to make a good FF. Or at least decent.
Lloyd checked his swords and sighed. Another chip. From what he could tell, Dirk was going to be busy for quite a while before he could slash again. He walked through the forest and heard the crunching sounds of his own boots to the forest floor.
'Whine'
"Huh?" Lloyd turned around. "Oh, hey there Noishe. Whats wrong?"
Noishe whined again and Lloyd began to get nervous. When Noishe whined, it meant that monsters were around. That was bad especially considering that his sword was broken.
He glanced around again. Every dark corner seemed dangerous. He felt eyes on him, watching his every move.
This is it…. He thought. A minicoid (annoying little mushroom things, you remember….) popped out of the bushes. It gurgled slightly and looked at Lloyd like it was superior.
Noishe whined once again and ran as fast as he could out of the forest.
"Figures," Lloyd seethed. "Always running from the most useless things."
Lloyd chuckled a little and lifted his foot over the tiny creature. It gurgled again and then Lloyd ended the creatures life.
"Killing innocent creatures, Lloyd? I'm ashamed."
Lloyd turned around to see Kratos standing in the shadows.
"I don't care about the tiny minicoids of the forest."
"No, its that you've lost your will to fight for good. You did the minute you decided to kill Yggdrassill. You thought the path to do your own thing would be perfect. Forget the world."
"You are as pure-hearted as ever, and still a horrible father."
"Tell me why Lloyd. Why would you fight off the world? Fight me."
"Because its my choice. Leave those I love. I'm only following your example."
"I left you to keep you safe."
"And you left me fatherless and lonely for most of my life."
"Lloyd, do yourself a favor and grow up. I am sick of your grudge against me."
"I don't care! I'll do what I will without you…"
"Lloyd, don't do this…"
"Shut up!"
Lloyd drew his broken sword. No matter what, he would do what he will, without his father. He could kill him with a broken sword. It didn't matter.
Kratos drew Flameburge and looked at Lloyd.
"You will probably lose, Lloyd. Remember, It's happened so many times before. You need to listen to me and grow stronger."
"Why do you always want to push me? You are not a father!"
"Lloyd, you cannot fight with all that rage."
Lloyd came swinging at Kratos hoping to kill him in one shot. Kratos parried and then slashed at Lloyd who turned around and got a sword in the face.
He lay on the ground and felt the cut on his face.
"Ow…why are you hurting me?"
"Don't act like you're a victim, you came at me unprepared. It's your fault."
"Shut up, I'm a way better swordsman than you, I have handled the Eternal Sword and been to Dherris-Karlan. You can't destroy me with a single cut."
"You forget I am the Eternal Swordsman who owned the Eternal Sword before anyone else. Lloyd, you need to calm down."
"Why should I? You sicken me!"
"Reducing yourself to insults will not help you."
"I don't care…."
"Lloyd, tell me."
He was calming down a bit.
"Tell you what?"
"Why you've chosen to kill."
"Fine. I'll tell you. Then, I'll kill you."
"Ok with me, I'll just escape."
"I don't think so…"
"What the - ?"
A wall of ice appeared around Kratos.
He looked around to see Genis in the trees snickering. Ever since Lloyd's change, Genis had grown a lot more evil. He was like a Gollum, not a sorcerer.
"Genis…"
"So, How about our little discussion, eh, Dad?"
"I still accept…."
"Then you are ready to die?"
"Start talking."
