MOONLIT LOVER-SDA-Hiei POV
CHELSEA WELSH
He sat there quietly, never moving, never speaking. A perfect marble stone bathing in a patch of moonlight; light that reflected off his matching hair, breathtakingly beautiful. I lay barely inches away, my fingers touching the tip of the still tail that was usually so restless as his mind.
"Fox?" I broke the silence without effort, "Are you okay?"
Something that sounded like a laugh escaped him. "I'm fine, koi," he breathed deeply, and spoke to me in a sigh, "I enjoy the moonlight."
I knew that already.
Slowly, I sat up, letting the black sheets slide off me to pool beneath my body, leaving me bare. Tucking my legs beneath me, I sat closer, feeling the coolness of his skin, the softness and strength that only he could possess.
"It suits you." My lips touched his neck, caressing, sending a shiver up his slight frame. I was tired and cold.
"Should I shut the window for you?"
His golden eyes glowed, wedding rings in the barely-there lighting. "I'm fine." I lied. He didn't confront me; instead, he pulled me into his lap and slipped his arms around me, one at my chest, the other at my waist. A comforting cage of white skin.
Kurama's tail embraced us, soft fur against naked skin.
"Better?"
I didn't answer.
"Kurama?" I felt him cock his head gently to one side. "...Do you still dream of him?"
There was a moment where he could have been dead. His chest stopped, body rigid as if wires had been strung beneath the ivory.
"Often," his voice was a whisper, pained. I touched his hand.
We were silent.
"As strong as you were, tender you go. I'm watching you breathing for the last time."
I permitted my body to relax as I listened to the barely-there voice, the on-pitch song that soothed me even if I didn't think I needed it.
"A song for your heart, and when it is quiet, I know what it means and I'll carry you home..."
His lips touched the white spider nested within the black of my hair.
"I'll carry you home..."
We sat there quietly. Never moving...
...Never speaking.
