Author's notes: so, an anonymous follower on my Tumblr gave me this prompt: Captain Buccaneer, ((listen to bearofthemountains playlist while writing it)) || Song that played on her playlist - Weight of Us || Pairing(s): Implied Olivibuc, Olivizumi boys. Also my first fic I'm publishing on this account. Enjoy. Shamlessly full of Harry Potter references, see if you catch them.
"Where your treasure lie, your heart is also."
"Olivier," says a familiar voice at the General's shoulder.
Olivier's gaze doesn't move from the headstone.
Daitaro Buccaneer
She feels Izumi firmly grasp her shoulder- a silent reassurance- like the ones she was so used to getting from one who had long passed.
December 16, 1881 - May 2, 1915
Izumi's old words force their way back into Olivier's head, ones she received just before she heard of the Captain's death. Isn't there anyone you'd give anything to see one last time?. The realization hits her. This is what Izumi felt when she tried to bring back her child.
Beloved Son
"You Alchemists," Olivier begins firmly. She may have cracks in her, but she is by no means broken. She'd survive. "Say one is all and all is one, correct? It is now clear to me what you mean."
The wind picks up, rustling her blonde hair, as if it has picked up the pregnant pause between the two woman before the grave. The trees rustle, bells chime, birds chirp, the grass is green, and the sun is still still, but Buccaneer is no longer right at her back.
Brave Solider
The universe is continuing to flow, the world is going on, as if nothing has happened.
Izumi's nails bare into her shoulder, gripping her tightly. "I once told the Elric Brothers: It's okay to hurt," The Alchemist says solemnly, a strong conviction bared behind each word. "There's a difference between being weak and having a heart."
Strong Soul
The notion is almost enough for Olivier to laugh- for the first time since the day. "A heart?" Olivier repeats, a ghost of amusement in her tone. "I don't have a heart."
The amusement quickly blinks out like a candle. Izumi's grip slips off her shoulder, and she draws in a breath, about to say something before the Alchemist cuts her off.
"My heart is gone."
