"You seem happy."
"I am. Very much."
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you.' She thinks of stepping towards him to hug him. Despite everything that happened she still cared for him deeply. He was her first real love. The person she had envisioned that would be by her side until the end of time. It was a more innocent and naive time. She knew how much he struggled when the relationship ended. The worst part was nothing negative had drifted them apart; they just had.
'I'm glad you were able to come Darrin. It meant a lot to me that you were here." She stays unmoved.
"Of course. Sean is a real lucky guy." She watches him hold back a sigh. Forces a smile.
"I'm the lucky one." She again holds herself back. The past was the past. No words would ever comfort him with this pain she had no doubt he was feeling. It should have been me up there exchanging those vows. In her heart she knows that's racing through his head.
"Well I think I'm gonna get going. Go enjoy the reception. And again congratulations Sue." He turns and walks out the door. She finds herself tearing up as such an important part in shaping her being leaves in what she also had no doubt would be forever.
"I loved you so much Darrin." She whispers to the air.
"Sue come on we're about to do the funky chicken!" Carly and Lexie co maid of honors shriek in unison and rush towards Sue in the hallway. She gives a chuckle and fights away the tears. Much as the loss hurt life always worked out the way it is suppose to.
