No Tears in the Face of Duty

I've tried everything.
Everything I could,
but now I'm faced with the choice,
I never wanted to make.
This war has stretched across my homeland
from corner to corner
and beyond.
Everywhere I turn,
everywhere I run,
I hear the cries of my people
and now the cries have seeped into my own home,
and my own family mourns,
though we do not weep.
Leaders aren't meant to weep.
But what else are you expected to do,
when your own kin lies dead?
Struck down in battle,
fighting for his county?
What then do we do?
I have puzzled over this,
long hours have I spent,
and this answer
remains:
You must do, what you must.
Others die,
Others fall,
you must fight.
Fight for them,
Fight for us,
Fight with hope,
and without it.
So now I must go.
Others would think me insane,
going surely to my death,
but they don't understand.
It's not a matter of command,
or desire,
or adventure,
I must go,
for duty,
for justice,
to ensure his death,
and their deaths,
were not in vain.
No time for words.
No time for apologies.
No time for regret.
No time for fear.
No time for tears.
I will not cry now.
No, now I will fight.
For him.
For us.
For Duty.
Okay, so in case you didn't notice, this is from both Faramir and Eowyn's point of view. Faramir is talking about his brother Boromir's fall, and Eowyn about her cousin Theodred's.
I also imagine that Faramir would be thinking this as he goes to Osgilath, and Eowyn as she goes to the battle of Pelennor Fields, both to their certain death.
Of course, they both live but also suffer extreme injuries and meet in the house of healing, where they fall in lurv. Aww....
