General Iroh watched as the sunset again on another peaceful day. He sighed, clasping his hands behind his back, presenting a stellar image to his crew below as the worked hard to keep the battleship operating even in this time of peace.
He almost scoffed at the thought. Peace always seemed like an illusion to him. Too many times he'd found himself in the midst of battle during times of 'peace'. Lately on the wires he'd been getting more news on the happening at Republic City. The peace Avatar Aang had fought so hard for was only hanging on by a thin thread. Amon was stepping up his aggression. It was almost laughable how it seemed to happen around the same time Avatar Korra showed up in Republic City. His brow furrowed as he reflected on that. It was almost like Amon had been waiting for her.
He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard footsteps approaching. By the speed of their approach he knew something bad had happened.
"General! I just received a wire from the Avatar. She says Amon and his forces have gained control of the city. How do you want to respond?"
There was only a slight pause before he answered. "Tell her we'll be arriving in three days' time. And that I look forward to winning back Republic City. Together."
"As you wish, General Iroh."
Iroh took a deep breath as the messenger hurried to deliver the response, releasing it with force. Peace was surely an illusion.
