Sky

The sky reminded her of Him. It was because of the way He flew. He was so free in the air, all the lines around His eyes seemed to disappear, and He was just like any other teenager for a moment, not a care in the world. Untouched by the death that surrounded Him just because He was a Gryffindor and a sympathiser of muggles and muggle-borns.

The sun was setting now, and the pure gold that was streaking across the sky reminded her of Him. It signified the warmth of His smile, the one thing that could bring the sun out for her on even the dreariest of winter days.

The purple reminded her of Him too. Of those strange socks she'd stolen from Him once when she'd had a few moment in the boy's dorm. She hugged her legs, touching the rough wool of His socks. She always wore them when she sat by her window.

And of course the red...the colour of His Quidditch robes. She'd been so proud when she found out He made the team, it was such an accomplishment, and it was so obvious that He loved flying, that He'd always fly, even if He wasn't allowed. She'd seen how much being banned from flying had bothered Him last year, and it had torn her heart to pieces. But what could she do? She was smart, but she couldn't have broken the curses surrounding His broom, and even if she had been able to, the horror stories she'd heard about Umbridge's detentions would have made her think twice.

It was twilight now, and her musing took its cue from the sky, turning to less pleasant thoughts which were associated with the darkness. Tears ran down pale cheeks that refused to tan, even when they were exposed to the sun all day, as she thought about His years at Hogwarts. Every damn year He was involved in another confrontation, simply because of who He was, and whom He'd befriended.

She sighed, dropping her head into her hands. She was so tired of pretending to only be His friend, to love Him as a sister. But He'd never see her as anything more than His plain-Jane best friend.

"Would you like some hot cocoa, dear?"

"Yes please," She got up and went downstairs, sitting beside Harry so that she could steal some of the dark chocolaty liquid from His mug. He grinned at her, and, even though it was dark outside, for her, the sun was shining.
