Opening
"Darkness brings anxiety and fear, awakening desire."
-Kingdom
There was something wrong with the town today. He could feel it in the air and in the way that the atmosphere seemed to shift around him. Beside him, his younger brother slept soundly as he looked out the window. His green bangs were swept above his eyes and a small piece stuck up in the back of his head. His legs were propped up as he hugged the glass near the window as he tried not to make a sound as he looked down towards the street into Daybreak Town.
His breath fogged the window pane and beside him he could feel his brother stir. His brother looked nothing like him with short black hair and a freckled face. His brown eyes fluttered open and looked up at his older brother.
"Xavier?" his little brother started, turning to look at the clock that was hanging across from the double bed and wincing as he noticed the time, "Ah, it's early go to sleep." The seven year old muttered before seeming to sense the tension in his older brother's shoulders, "Is something wrong."
"Nothing, don't worry about it," Xavier smiled at his younger brother before climbing out of bed, "I need to talk to mom, go to sleep. And sleep in your own room tonight, will ya Rush?"
Rush had already buried himself back in the blankets and mumbled something incomprehensible. Deciding to leave his little brother alone, Xavier headed out of the cluttered room and closed the door behind him before walking down the halls. He took the steps two at a time as he headed down to the first floor of the small house.
There, he headed towards the kitchen were he could see his mother sipping tea and looking out the window with a frown as the sun started rising higher in the morning sky.
"Mom?" Xavier started as he headed into the small kitchen filled with black and white tiles. His mother raised her eyes to look at him and he could see that there was something strained in the eyes of his usually carefree mother. She gave a soft smile at him before she set down the blue cup on the table she was sitting at.
"Morning Xavier, you're up early."
"Yeah… something woke me up," Xavier's mother frowned as she heard him and she gave a slow nod.
"Something woke me up, too. They say that the darkness is spreading…," her voice shook slightly as she spoke as if the thought scared her, "But everything will be okay, just promise to take care of your brother."
"I will." he promised, a serious look overcoming his face, "Don't worry."
She nodded, "Thank you."
If only things could have been that simple.
A/N: Yo there! And welcome to the origins story of my unchained x character that I made because I got super attached to them. The opening is pretty short, but the first chapter should be longer. Anyways, thanks for clicking on this even though it's not much as of right now. Later skaters!
