"Come on Jim. I walk the streets of Toronto, and I know what I'm getting into. How long have I been an agent now? What is it racked up at, eight years now? And now you want to cast me aside. Send me to some obscure little town known as, Seattle, you call it. I don't think I'll know what to do."
"Witter you know you deserve this position. The head of the agency just happens to think the same. Yes, yes. I know you'll undoubtedly miss the daily, grueling orders I give you. Hey, but one day you'll thank me for pushing you into taking this opportunity. Don't worry, man. I'll be out there in a few months to check up on you. I'm pretty sure you can tackle Seattle without me."
So Pacey Witter was off. Once again he was leaving his known life behind, and starting new. This time he was heading for Washington, traveling many miles away from his true home, Capeside.
"I don't want to be the reason that keeps you stuck here. I just love you too much to stop you from reaching what you've always wanted. One day you'll understand. You will understand, this is all for the best."
It seemed so long ago. Pacey had given up his true love on the night of their senior prom. He knew graduation was coming in the next few days, and that then everything would miraculously change. He knew that she was holding back because of him. He knew she would have even stayed in Capeside for him. Yet, he was determined for her to live her life with all the chances she could find. Including her finding them, without him.
"Stop Witter. You can't sit here and wander in the past. What is done is done." Great, he thought. Now I'm even talking to myself. Pacey reclined on the chair, and tried to wash all his thoughts away. Right before he closed his eyes, he spotted a chestnut-haired woman near the front of the plane, automatically thinking of his Joey. Or his used to be, Joey. Once I get off this plane, I will start fresh and officially leave the past behind. At least in theory.
